The recent Sightron sale at midway got me to thinking about some of the older discontinued scopes
What are some of the discontinued scopes that you would like to see made again

Mine would definitely be the Sightron Big Sky and the Bushnell Eite series
Easily the bushnell 3-12’s

Lrhs or lrtsi

All the Japan/LOW made Weavers…
Posted By: tucsonan Re: Out of production scope? - 07/28/22
Leupold Vari-x iii 3.5-10 AO with multicoat 4. Weird how the old Leupies with coin-slot clickers and only 1 spring held up better than the “improved” models
Weaver Classics.

The Nikon Titanium.

The 5.5-16x44 was the clearest rifle scope I ever looked through........at ANY price point.

Truth.

Have a 6-20 on my 7-STW and it is very impressive.
Posted By: 260Remguy Re: Out of production scope? - 07/28/22
I was sorry to see the Jspsnese Weaver RV7, RV9, and V16 go away. When Natchez was closing them out I should have bought a few more than I did. 20/20 hindsight strikes again!
Posted By: papat Re: Out of production scope? - 07/28/22
Nikon had a 2X7 I was very fond of.

I thought this was going to be about the SWFA fixed 6. Being there never in stock. 😵‍💫

Take care, Willie

What would be the purpose of an AO on a 10 power scope?
Posted By: BillyE Re: Out of production scope? - 07/28/22
Two things mainly: heavy, uncomplicated reticles and 3/4 tube rimfire scopes.
Posted By: WYcoyote Re: Out of production scope? - 07/29/22
Bushnell Elite with the Firefly reticle.

Great for low light hunting even without using the glow in the dark feature.
Lewey VXll 2-7X33

Zeiss Conquest 4X and 3-9x40
Posted By: SCgman1 Re: Out of production scope? - 07/29/22
I'm gonna flag this thread for reference whenever I go to sell my optics.........according to this I have excellent taste in scopes......

Multiple offerings of Nikon monarchs, meopta meopros, and zeiss conquests.........seems to be the my standard choices....

A Steiner and a trijicon are the only times where I deviated.

The Japanese made Weavers,Nitrex TR2,Super Slams and Grand Slams are great scopes.I like the Zeiss MC and Meopta MeoPro too.
Posted By: navlav8r Re: Out of production scope? - 07/29/22
The older Zeiss Conquests. I like the 4.5-14 X 50 version especially.

Amen on the uncomplicated reticle.

Was a good week!

Burris Speed Dot 135.......the original one.

The old Japan made scope chiefs in 1.5-5 or whatever they were. Great lever action scope.

Nope

Replaced by the Optika line
338rcm: I would love for the fine folks at Leupold & Stevens Corporation to resume making the wonderful 8.5x25x40m/m variable scopes.
These were/are (I have several of them) the finest "Colony Varminting" scopes I have ever used - and I have used, a LOT of them.

Agree.

Agreed 2X - have several Razors, they might be better even. Still a slut for the Austrians.

Nikon Monarch... even the Pro Staff!
I agree with Zeiss Conquest 3-9

From Leupold, bring back the B&C crosshair setups as options on the 2.5-8X and 3.5-10X, return the fixed 2x handgun scope to the lineup, and .. might be a niche scope, but I'd like to see the old 3.5-10X AO back. It was a pretty cool scope for a .22 hornet.

Lyman Alaskan 2.5X
Leupold Alaskan 2.5, 4,6X
Posted By: Jason280 Re: Out of production scope? - 08/02/22
Two that come to mind were the Japanese Weaver 4x38 & 6x38 fixed power scopes, as well as the Grand Slam variables (also Japanese).
Posted By: Prwlr Re: Out of production scope? - 08/04/22
Have a soft spot for the Burris FF 6x X40mm and Weaver V9.
Kahles 3-9X42 TDS
Kahles 1.5-6x42 helia c with 4a reticle My favorite deer rifle scope

Mounted up a couple of the "out of prodction" scopes today. Had a NIB Sightron Big Sky in a 3-12 that got mounted on a Legendary Arms Works in 300 win and a NIB Bushnell 4200 4-16 that went on a custom Rem 6.5-06

Heading to the range in the morning to see if the old dinosaurs still work

Kahles AH 3-9x42 & 2-7x36 in both Plex and 4A

These were great, robust scopes with Swarovski quality glass!

I own 3 of these…wish I had 5 or 6.

Weaver T series, Those made nice BR scopes!
Just look at eBay completed items...used scopes selling for new or greater prices - Bushnell Elite (Japan), Weaver Classic (Japan), Leupold VX-R, Weaver RV9, Meopta MeoPro... I recently sold two Leupold VX-Rs on eBay for new prices...
Posted By: JeffyD Re: Out of production scope? - 08/09/22
Another vote for Bushnell Elites.
In particular the 2-7X models.
Posted By: Bristoe Re: Out of production scope? - 08/10/22
A Nikon ProStaff 3-9X40 is the best $150 scope I've ever owned. I bought it to go on a FAL. I expected it too get shook apart but it never did. Very clear glass for a budget priced scope.

I've paid more for a scope and gotten less.
Posted By: 338Rules Re: Out of production scope? - 10/02/22
Bushnell 4200 1.5-6 x 36 , maybe with a tad more eye relief …
Id buy a dozen 4200 elite 4x16x40
Posted By: Preda8or Re: Out of production scope? - 10/04/22
Weaver Grand slams are excellent Japanese made scopes, glass and turret repeatable are still better than most of the new China scopes.
