My son has a high school buddy that has the burning want of a scope with illuminated reticle/dot for his Ruger American .243. This young man is a squared away hard worker, married with a newborn baby. His budget is the issue, he needs to keep this under $350. I would appreciate suggestions for a budget friendly hunting scope with illuminated dot/crosshair?
Leupold's FireDot Duplex is simple illumination done right. VXR or Freedom. Hmm. I thought I'd found one... More $400 used.

An auction ending Monday. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275495543264?hash=item4024d061e0:g:amkAAOSw0m9jRN31

Burris E1 Illuminated is another non-Chinese option. Discontinued! Damnit. I'll take a look and see if I have an extra....

I don't know anything about it. Just an option.
The Sig might be the best bet. Or see if Doug at Cameraland has any options.

Leupold is pretty much out at that price range. Used VX-Rs are insane. Some models sell for more than a new VX-5HD of the same power range.

I have (2) 2-12 and (1) 4-20. They have been flawless for me. I got them from Cameraland for around $330.
I have a couple Konus 1.5-6 w/illuminated dot reticles that have been very nice. I use them for coyote hunting, one on an AR and the other on a 6x45 bolt action. No complaints.. I got them from Cameralandny.
He should call CameraLand and tell Doug the situation. I'm guessing Doug would be pretty flexible with the chance to make a lifetime customer.
It's just slightly over his budget, but the best low-priced illuminated scope I have personally used is the Meopta MeoSport 3-10x50. I now have two of them. Yes, there are things I'd change about it for my own use, but for the $$, I haven't seen anything better.

With a coupon code, you can get them for around $375 from sportoptics.com. But I'd also check with CameraLand as they are certain to present a good deal and offer customer service that is simply amazing.

Appreciate the advice and I'm listening. I think calling Cameraland sounds like a great idea. Any other suggestions and I'm all ears. I know the guy wouldn't turn away a solid used scope if anyone had one to part with.
It'd be nice to hold out for a non-Chinese option for the American.

Easy budget pick there. Nice find PB. I'll probably get a couple to try. Simple dot illumination, not Chinky is apparently a tough find.

Get a free flashlight, shipped $220 The model number SOW33206.

I called this morning and spoke with Neil. We had a pleasant conversation, he was patient and found some options that fit the criteria for the young man. I sent a text with product numbers and contact information to the guy and we'll see how he proceeds. Appreciate Cameraland and the Fire posters that offered help.

I mount my scopes so that I get quick and easy eye alignment, ample holding power and so that the rings placed as symmetrically as possible. Not once has my method caused any issues, and I am a stickler for both precision and repeatability in the accuracy department. If the setup doesn't allow the rings to be somewhat evenly spaced, I may add a third ring just for cosmetic purposes.

There's no need to "say so." The results -- hundreds of big game kills with my Contender rifles -- speak for themselves.
Booby is a FULL Fhuqking Retard and CLUELESS about glass and mechanics, which is something she likes to prove obliviously. Hint.

As long as it's fenced,"ample" is AWESOME! Hint.
