Has any one compared the 2 side by side? Have the S2 and the optics are excellent, but looking at trying the 77 for the coarse/fine focus and weight.

I realize this isn't an exact answer to what you've asked, but, it's somewhat related. I've got the older series Leica Televid 62MM and 77MM. I really miss my coarse/fine focus wheels when I use someone else's spotter.

The barrel focus has never really been an issue till I started playing around with digiscoping. It seems I’m always struggling to get the fine focus.

We got my kid the Leica 77 and it’s much easier getting a good focus on his while digiscoping.
Have a Kowa 77 and Bushnell Elite 80 with only one focus knob. It's not the Meopta, but the Kowa coarse and fine focus are really nice. Is the difference that much, depends on what I'm looking at. The Elite is my range scope (bang around) and the Kowa for everything else, including photography. Could I use the Elite for photography? Yep as I have the adaptor, but I'm going with the Kowa.

Not a "yes or no", but hope it gives some perspective.

Bump for anymore Kowa 77 users.

I wouldn't buy a Spotter,that wasn't FFP in a Milscale. Hint.

Though I could suffer a 3/4 throttle fixed eyepiece,in Milscale. Hint................

I can see the advantage in a lot of instances, but not seeing how it would help with my digiscoping and bluritude?

Fill me in.

When it comes to digiscoping, I consider Kowa to be excellent in that regard. I do not have a 77x model, I upgraded recently to an 883 for several reasons and one of them is ease of digiscoping. Kowa offers adapters for both methods of digiscoping and I have been using the Kowa TSN-PA7 photo adapter with my Nikon D7500 to do some videos of F-class competition showing the effects of mirage. I've also captured trace and bullet blowups. I've used the PA7 with the TE-11WZ evepiece, running from 25X to 60X. I leave the PA ring on the Kowa body all the time now. Makes it easy to mount the camera at any time.

I also got the new Kowa TE-80XW wide angle eyepiece and it's compatible with the PA7, but I haven't had a chance to test that yet.

Also, Kowas sells an astronomical lens adapter, the TSN-AS1.25 G Astro Adapter. I got one of those and a Baader Morpheous 4.5mm astronomical lens and tested that setup this past weekend looking at the comet. Neat setup. I looked at the Moon that same night and the detail is breathtaking. This works out to about 125X.

I'm sure other spotters have similar accessories, I didn't research them.

Thanks, my digiscoping is with a phone and Novagrade adapter. Going ahead with the 774 and will look into the Kowa products.

Yeah most people do digiscoping with a smartphone because no one has real cameras anymore. It's the passing of an era.
