I just put together a medium barreled 22-250 AI with a 1-12 barrel for open country coyotes. I'm running Athlon Argos 2-12 on a sister rifle in 20P and think I would like some more X's without loosing much FOV on the bottom end like I would with my Viper 6.5-20's.

Your thoughts on the Sightron S-Tac 3-16.

Thanks

Find a Leupold 6.5-20x40, They are light, mount low, great optics. About 500 bucks for a good one.

Some of the MOA reticles available on the 3-16 are said to be very fine, so be aware of that. You can see them on Youtube if you search. I bought a duplex version for $350 a few week back from CameraLand NY and mounted it on a Anschutz .22LR. Too early to tell how I'll like it in the long run, but first impressions are good for that kind of money.

I've got several. Great scope. As J-Pro said some of the MOA reticles are very fine, really just a pure target reticle. I would not use for hunting in low light.

The MIL FFP reticles are very good, though. The fine part of the reticle is about as heavy as the fine part of a normal duplex reticle. You won't need the illumination turned on unless it gets very dark.

Or just try the duplex.

I have one with the MOA reticle on a 30-06 that I deer hunt with.
The MOA reticle is very hard to see in low light conditions.
I am about to buy another w a duplex reticle for the 06 and switch the MOA reticle to a paper puncher.

I have one with the duplex reticle, and it is by far the best you can get in the price range, especially with the heavy discounts currently found. I’m tempted to pick one up with the MOA-3 and play around with it on a 22lr.

I've been looking over this model for my CZ 457 Varmint but can't decide if the MOA-3 will be too large for close shots. The duplex may suit me better for hunting squirrels. Anyone have any experience with the MOA-3?
I have one on a 223 upper. I like it better than I do most of those type reticles. Not sure it would be my first choice in dark woods.

Happen to have 1 S-Tac 3-16…. It’s a fine scope for the money. Elevation and windage clicks are as nice as my Nightforce scopes. Works great on my 223 varmint rig.

I have a couple i got on sale. Get the 4-20x50 duplex. Its nearly the same weight and optically i like my 4-20 better than my 3-16. Good tough scope when you can find them on sale. I actually like how the turrets feel vs my SWFA SS.

I just received mine and like it, the reticle is fine but not enough to bother me for open country coyotes. Once it is mounted and gets a little blood on it, I'll evaluate it here.

Be nice if these were available with-out target turrets
