Thinking about replacing my zeiss conquest mc with a hd5 or a v4. Will be going on a Remington 700 30-06 for deer hunting, max 200 yrds. Like the Lou tec & t coating on the hd5. Which one will one be better in low light ?
Iirc..

Hd5 is 1”. V4 is 30mm

If thst matters to you.
i have a 5-25x50 ( i think ) hd5 and the v6 4-16x44.

I like them both.
I'd rather have s 1"
HD5 was discontinued.
Will be looking for a used one , due to limited budget.
I have heard from more than one big commercial seller that the hd5s while having very good glass had alot of issues resulting in alot of warranty repairs. This was the reason for there very short time in the Zeiss line up.

Just my 2 cents. The one I had was nice as far a glass but I never played with it that much.

I have never heard bad things about the v4 durability wise and most think it had really good glass.

Dont overlook the meopta scopes for great glass at a good value.

What is wrong with your current Zeiss Conquest MC? Those are great scopes in general. If shots are limited to 200 yards "max", dang near anything will work. Wondering what conquest you have and what seems to be the issue??
I have both - the glass is a little better on the V4 & the illuminated reticle on my 4-16x 50 is just sensational if dark is on your hunting menu. I won’t change the 3-15x50 HD5 on my primary elk hunting rifle a 300 Weatherby, the Z800 reticle is set up perfectly with the gun all the way out to 800 Yards.

If 200 is your maximum with a 30-06 it seems like a simple duplex is all you would need. RedHawk has the V4 in 3-12x56 illuminated duplex for just over $800 that would be hard to beat at daybreak and twilight.
Nothing wrong with my Conquest 3-9x40 I currently have , just wanting to try something different. I had the same scope on a 7mm08 that I replaced with a Trijicon accupoint with a duplex & green dot. Does the meopta opitka 6 have the same size duplex as the conquest ?
For a dependable, reasonably inexpensive, option we have an open box Meopta Optika5 2-10x42 - Z-Plus for only $369.99
The 1” tube Optika5 2-10x42 features MeoBright lens coatings for optimal light transmission and MeoDrop hydrophobic water repellant coating. Second focal plane reticle MOA based Z-Plus. ¼ MOA adjustments are standard.

Veddy interesting. Nothing wrong with wanting to try something new and interesting. From personal experience, I don’t find the glass on the v4 to be much better than the old conquest. However, you do get a scope that reliably tracks and doesn’t have bass ackwards turrets. All of which doesn’t matter one bit on a rifle that’s only going to see 200 yard shots.
