Jumping back and forth tween this and a SHV for the next build.
I have been eyeing the Credo and hoping someone with experience chimes in. Local shop carries them. My only worry is the lack of side focus. I have a SHV and really wish it was FFP and Mil reticle, but otherwise like the clarity and robustness of it.
The Steiner 2-10x42 is a sleeper in this category for hunting and give up little to my S&B's. I am super impressed with the value this scope provides and you can get a German #4 reticle instead of the Christmas tree.

I agree on the glass but will caution that I've seen the #4 and it was extremely thin. That "Christmas tree" is actually much bolder and thicker than the #4. Unlike many scopes in this power range the Steiner has no tunneling at low power, just a wide clear view that will make you forget the scope is even there.

100%. I am not sure I would categorize the reticle as thin, as in the way target reticle would be. It is certainly not as bold and thick as the Trijicon monstrosity, but for many this reticle is the just right combination of proportion for hunting, low light, and target shooting. I think Steiner did a great job on this for those who enjoy hunting, don't dial, and don't shoot ultra long range. This scope is ideal for those 300 yard and less shooters on a budget who have sighted their rifles in, understand where their bullet will hit within those ranges with practice and experience, and can instinctively and rapidly squeeze the trigger with confidence and a clear view with all of that crap in the reticle that makes you have to stop and think about it.
