Has night force ever produced a compact 2.5 to 10x42 mm that has a mildot reticle?

If so what is a model number any help would be greatly appreciate it

Looks like Mil-R is as close as they get. That one is cataloged on the site. No sign of a true mil dot ever made in that one

Yes, they did in the past. I don’t have the box for the 42mm so I can’t give you the model number but have several of the 32mm with same reticle.

I believe C488 is the NXS 2.5-10x42 mildot with mil adjustments exposed turrets.

Yep.

Seems like there’s a lot of demand for that model, you’d think it would be fairly simple to add it to the line up?
I wish they’d offer it in the SHV 3-10

+1 Its my favorite of all of them. Have one of those on my go to hunting rifle, I'd sure like a couple more.
That was definitely one of NF's better reticles for hunting. But like Zeiss ditching the #4, all we can do is wonder why. A Zeiss tech once told me the #4 was one of their top sellers and that they also had many scopes sent in over the years to be swapped out to a #4. But it's all water under the bridge at this point, so to speak.

I wonder about the motivation for Leupold to make the wide duplex the standard reticle a while back. The thick parts of the reticle end so far away from the center they may as well not be there.

Years ago, I worked with the Kleenex brand a lot. When they picked designs for Kleenex boxes, they did so via focus groups. And when they tallied the results, the brand would dismiss the top ranking and the lowest ranking, opting for the middle choices. I can only assume some of these optic companies are doing the same - less SKU's but a good middle? Seems curious to me, but if there's a company that shows less interest in what the captive audience thinks, it's Nightforce. Still, I'm a big fan of some of their products but more so in a couple of their discontinued products - but I'm getting to be an old head. blush

100% agree. When I bought my VX5 with the firedot duplex I thought I was getting the same style duplex that was in my VXR. Oh hell no, even though the image on the box was the same.

I have to admit when I got my Nightforce 2.5-10x32 with the mildot I thought I was getting my dream scope for elk hunting. But the reticle just seemed to disappear when aimed with any kind of brush or cover in the background.

Didn't work for me at all, and couldn't get rid of it soon enough.
