I have a new Remmy 300 Ultra I ned to put a scope on. I will be using it for medium to long range. What your thoughts on a scope this size. Will it be enough or should I go for a 4.5x14 ?
Thanks for the help!

If it's not a Leup 6x42, it's just a scope...

Its up to you and what you want.

It will be a Leupy if I go with it.

That is an awesome scope, it might seem under-powered looking at targets but when hunting it'll work great way out there. I keep all my scopes on 6X anyway, they hardly ever move. My only use for high power is checking for legal horns.

I've got two of them that work fine for anything as far away as I'm likely to shoot. That's about 600 yds.
They have the advantage of holding up recoil better than any variable and the huge eye box that make them what they are.
What most don't understand is just how important a big eye box is when the game is up close and moving. Far more important than field of view. E

Matter of fact, I put a 6x42 Loopie on my .300 Rem Ultra Mag last year. It's a real nice scope. Good, clear optics. Works well in low-light situations. Adjustments are crisp. The eye relief is excellent.

Yes, I like it!

Just curious have you ever hunted with a high end Swaro, Zeiss, or SB ever? You enter every thread in optics and talk about Leupy and I am curious have you ever hunted with one of the high end euro scopes yourself and not what some else has experienced. You personally? Sorry fellows just wanted to ask him that question where he might have a chance to respond with out getting bombarded.

The 6x42 has worked out really great on my daughters rifle, I think they are a great scope.

I am not going for the 42mm, but rather the 36mm of the FXII. The scope will also be worked over by the custom shop.
