I'd guess that most of you know that while I'm not a "Leupold slut", I am quite partial to Leupold's rifle scopes, and run quite a few right now, with a limited selection of other brands. Anyway, I've got an 'issue' that I already know how I feel about, and already know how I plan on dealing with it ... So, I'm not looking for 'advice' on what to do ... Just wondering what you guys think, and wanted to see what comments you might have regarding the following:

Just got a scope back from Leupold - M1 elevation turret installation ... Only took about 10 days round-trip, and it looks great ... except for one small thing ...

[Linked Image]

notice they 'centered' the new assy just a tad off to the right ... (D'oh!)

I know that mechanically it makes no difference, and that functionally it will run just like it's supposed to, all things considered ... but of course, the flip side is that it's likely going to bug the heck out of me if I don't have it adjusted to be centered like it should be ...

So, what say you ...
May be nitpicking, but I think it is sloppy of them. It would bug me too.
Would I send them another one to do? I ain't nitpickin! It's my hard earned money! I'm sendin it back!!

til later

My turreted Leupy has a small, recessed allen screw that you undo and the marks rotate to line up then you tighten. This model doesn't have that?
pugs ...

I'm not talking about the alignment of the turret proper with the hash mark on the housing ... I'm talking about the entire assembly being 'canted' off to the right ...

let's say the ocular lens is at 6 o'clock ... if the elev. turret is the dial, the index/hash mark is pointing at about 5:30, when it should be at 6:00 ...
Is it supposed to be at 6 o'clock? I wouldnt give a chit if it was at 3 o'clock as long as the hashes line up and you can see the adjustments your making without spinning the gun around and pointing it at you, does it matter?
Ahhh, Gotcha, yep, looks gooned. I'd send it back and make them pay the shipping.
Send it back.
WGM,

I have everything from Tasco to Nightforce, but I don't have weird. I would send it back today.
Back it goes...
Dont you have a pipe wrench? I bet you could gitter ta line up..

Oh, I thought the hashmarks weren't indexed/lined up, but.......how the heck can they get the turret CROOKED?

It almost has to be cross threaded?

I'd be sending it back pronto.

+1, The reason for turrets is the ability to conveniently make more precise adjustments. Whether or not it is entirely canted or simply misaligned, you paid for proper installation and it appears you got significantly less than that... back to Leupold.
I'd be concerned that it wouldn't adjust up and down as it should w/o adding or subtracting windage. Send it back and make them pay the shipping. E

If it was me I would send it back. If only for the reason that it would bother me everytime I saw it until I did send it back.
Fit and finish - FAIL.
Not so fast WGM.......you have a one of a kind, who else has one just like it? I'm sure noone, you probably can make bank if you put it on fleabay.
Good call Tom ... How about I list it on there and you start the bidding at $600 ... And if nobody even bids on it after you, then you got it for a bargain! ... (grin)
SEND IT BACK....
