I'm looking for a scope to put on a .22LR bolt action. I just got a thing in the mail from Cabela's about their Bushnell Buckhorns being on sale. I'm looking at the 4x12x40 for about $69.

I may use it for hunting but the main use would be for plinking and shooting at the local outdoor range. I might also use it for smallbore silhouette.

I had been thinking about a BSA Platinum but this sounds like it would be more versatile.

Any comments on this scope by someone who owns one?

Thanks

John
If you just want a throw-away scope, I'll sell you one that's just lingering around my stuff (3-12x40 Tasco) for a good bit less than the $80 it'll cost you for the $69 Cabelas Bushnell.

That's about as nice as I can be on those optics...... and I'm trying, really, I am......
I think that the Bushnell Buckhorn series is more/less the same as the Sportview series.

Natchez Shooters Supply has (or recently had) some Simmons Whitetail 3.5-10x40s for sale for $60+/- and they are pretty good scopes for the $$.

I think I'll just keep looking then.
