I love the 3X Leupold for all the reasons listed above. I can only add one very important reason not mentioned in the above posts, and that is the less objective sticking out in front of that front ring, the more likely the scope is to hold its zero with rough handleing that comes with hunting.
My next favorite choice is the wonderful little 1x4 varible and for all the same reasons...
Then there is that little 7/8" tube, 2.5x Leupold Alaskan on my 9.3x62 and its plumb sexy...
I just wish Leupold would wake up and come out with another batch of those 7/8" scopes, they are excellent for big game hunting under all conditions..
Todays sport is consumed with POWER in scopes for big game hunting and its not unusual to see a 4x16 varible on a nice light feather weight rifles. When I see this, I have to make a run for the John and toss my cookies! :):):)
...It's called anal scope syndrome clarity and confusion.
