Does anyone know if Hawke Frontier scopes any good? I heard they have good glass in them, and have great prices. They even provide a ballistics calculator for the scopes.

Thanks,

If you look closely at one and do some reading, you will find these are re badged Sightron scopes so for the price I would say there a good deal.

I just bought a NIB Hawke Frontier 4-16x42 from another member of the campfire, and I mounted and sighted it in yesterday. It is a fantastic scope. The optical clarity, resolution, and brightness are similar to my Conquests, and the adjustments are VERY positive and repeatable. Eye relief is very good, and not overly critical. I'm very impressed with the scope so far, but I will just mention that you should pay attention to the mounting length of the scope before you buy, since it's quite short (it barely fit on my Savage 12).

Sounds like the are good scopes for the money. Any other Hawke users with reviews?

Hawke Frontier and Frontier SF are different scopes.

Regular Frontier is identical to Sightron S1: nice scopes for the money.

Frontier SF models are a different animal entirely. They are much more expensive and compete against Conquest, Elite 4200, VX-3, etc. I reviewed one (Frontier SF 4-16x42) some time ago for OpticsTalk, but I am not sure if it is good forum etiquette to post a link to a different site.

Overall, I liked it quite a bit. I think the 4-16x42 is a very compelling package.

i bought a few of these at eabco, they seem like great scopes for the price. regular prices are 125-135.00 range.

ILya,

Yeah, I recently reviewed a Frontier SF 4-16x42 for VARMINT HUNTER (review to be published in the next issue), and it is a very good scope. In fact it beat out a couple of other, more popular scopes that were more expensive.

That's the one that I got. I guess I should have been more specific, it is the SF model.

Well I pulled the trigger and purchase a Hawke Frontier 3x9x40 WF scope. It looks really nice with great glass, very clear form 3 power to 9 power. The scope has a nice matte black coating, turn knobs have nice positive clicks to them. I have not shot the gun yet,so I will post my reviews after my shooting my Marlin XL7 30-06 rifle, weather permitting.... Field results will be posted later.

I just wrapped up with another review of a Hawke scope, so I figured that I'll add it to this (admittedly somewhat old) thread.

This particular model might not be of a whole lot of relevance to mid-range hunting scopes, but it is one of Hawke's latest products and as such it is, I hope, a good indication of things to come in the future:

Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical 4.5-14x42 review at OpticsThoughts

I did a couple other Hawke scope reviews which you can find on my website, but this one is the latest.
