Does anyone know how much Leupold 2 piece bases + Medium Rings weigh. I am trying to determine weight difference between them and Talley Lightweight ring sets.

I just replaced my Leupold mounts with Talley lightweights for a 30mm tube. I measured each with a kitchen scale and the Talley's weighed just under 3 ounces and the Leupold weighed 6 ounces. The density of aluminum is roughly 1/3 of the densitiy of steel. My Talley mounts were a little larger in bulk compared to the Leupolds.

A set of two piece Leupold STD bases and medium rings for a Winchester Model 70, for a one inch scope tube weighed 4.8 oz. on my digital kitchen scale. Model 98 Mauser bases probably weigh a little more as the rear base is thicker.

Can't say on the Talley lightweights as I've never even seen much less weighed them. But Talley "Low" steel rings and bases for a M98 weigh 4.8 oz.
