IMO, the Swarovski SLC and the German Minox HG are too close to call, and both are superior to the Zeiss Conquest

IMO, the Leica Ultravid HD is the finest optic available. The Zeiss Victory and Swarovski EL would be on par with the Leica Ultravid, but the newer Ultravid HD is ever so slightly superior. Please keep in mind that if you are north of 40 years old your eyes may not be able to observe the subtle differences.

I just bought the Minox MD62E6 from camerland's demo, closeout for $699 a few weeks ago and now they are $150 cheaper here on 24 hour. I did a post on Nosler's forum about how great your prices were and bought a z5 3-15 from you also. I started getting e-mails about the lower price on both sites. I wish you'd let us know they were going on further reduction. I feel kind of unsure about future purchases and I'd like that Z3 3-9x40 bdc Minox scope but don't want to be embarrased again.

Embarrased...really? This was probably a Mfr discount rather than the retailer. I see this quite often with Mfr's being in the retail business.

Discounts, as well as price increases, happen all the time. Sometimes you buy the day before a price increase or in your case 1 month before a further discount, however, I believe that you purchased a spotter and eyepiece that normally sells for over $1000.00 for $699.99, which is still an excellent deal on great optics

How about a recommendation for Rangefinding binoculars? I'm torn between the Leica and Zeiss. I like the right handed Zeiss rangefinding button. 8x45, 8x48, or 8x56?

Are the German made Minox HGs worth the premium price over the Japanese HGs? I've used the Japanese 8.5x52 HGs and was quite impressed.

Thanks once again for the great service. I spoke to you on the phone about your comparison opinion of the Minox 8.5x42 HG's. Based on your opinion I bought them the next day. They were everything you stated. They are as clear as any of the high priced binoculars through my eyes.

Just a word regarding Doug. Regulars know of Doug and Camera Land and their well founded reputation......I don't know how many have done business with Doug but I would guess it's a pretty good number.
For those who haven't yet - you're missing out.

Prior to last week I had only ordered one item from Doug......a set of Leica LRF 1200's back in 2005. And was very pleased with the product and Camera Land's service.

Last week I had a conversation with Doug about some binoculars. Based upon his input a decision was made. Now I'm just a regular guy living outside a small town and only a second time purchaser but Doug gave me his attention and time. I can only imagine the phone calls,PM's and emails he must receive daily.

Yes, it is designed to accept a tripod adapter. in full light I do not think you'd see any quality difference

I am looking for a camera with 12 to 16 mega pixels and an optical zoom of at least 20X. Doug what do you recommend

Doug, how does the Minox MD 62 Minox MD 62 Straight w/ 20-45x Zoom Eyepiece compare to the Vortex Skyline 20-60x80mm? I would assume much better quality of glass would not affect much despite less magnification?

It is not a fair comparison to a 62 vs 80mm. The Minox optically I would say is slightly superior and obviously easier to pack, however, the Vortex will be brighter and better in lower light situations

The Vortex HD is better than the non ED Minox

Say,Doug.......i posted a response saturday but i see it's lost in space somewhere so here i go again.
When i ordered the Vortex 8x32 Fury's,you said i would be impressed.
Upon receiving them (within 3 days) i noticed how bright and clear they appeared to be. But i wanted to play around with them for awhile before deciding how good they are.
I tested them in murky pre-dawn hours looking to the east (glare),during the mirage generating heat of the day,under dark threatening skies and at the end of the day into the last few minutes before darkness envelopes the day.
They performed incredibly! Their resolution and clarity is way beyond what i would expect for a 8x32. And their light gathering ability is simply astonishing for a small 32mm binocular.
The only minus i encountered was that the diopter adj tit was easy to accidently move but since i am now aware of that it is not an issue.
The focus wheel moves very smoothly and small movements make precise and immediate image changes. I used the same gloves (roping gloves and fleece) that i wear while calling and had no issues. I have fairly large hands and they rode comfortably.
Next to me is a section that has a water trough that is 1,087 yds from me. At 0530 i watched 2 coyotes take sips before bedding down to evade the day's heat. Then there was the kit fox at around 400 yds in tall dead grass with only its head and tail visible.
I stepped outside one evening to .......well,while out i saw a faint glow on the far horizon. I grabbed the Fury's and my 10x42 Swaro's to confirm my fear of a lightning-caused grass fire. The 8x32 Fury's could easy display the red of the fire......the Swaro's picked out the flickering hot spots.
You were so correct........I am very impressed. For what i wanted in a small,light-weight bino for calling coyotes i received way beyond what i expected.

I have bought several Zeiss Scopes and other stuff, both Diavari and Conquest (from you). However I think Zeiss is falling behind with their scopes magnification range... vs Swarovski Z6 and now Bushnell......

I am Zeiss big fan but I got interested on the Bushnell 6500 4.5-30x50mm. 30mm scope

But want to know how far is it from the Zeiss Scopes in terms of optical quality, low light performance and accuracy?????

Is it worth it or it�d be better to stay at least on the Conquest Line

I need a new scope for a new sporting rifle proyect.. shooting over 500 yds. Maybe will hunt with it as well......

IMO, Zeiss optics are far superior to Bushnell optics
