I got a catalog in the mail today from a discount house. (Sportsman's Guide Shooter's 2011 Fall...) On the cover they have a Weaver "Hunter" 3x9 that features a bullet drop reticule. $99.97.

1" tube, "one piece" construction...

I wonder, is this a rebranded Simmons? It looks like one of the newer Simmon's "Master" series scopes.

Just curious.

Anybody know?

Nobody? I thought somebody might be privy to this information...

If it's a "real" Weaver and not just a rebrand of the Simmons, then it might make a servicible scope...

I did check out their web site and there is nothing about these scopes listed there. And their scopes do not have the "barrel" style eyepiece.

I'm saying it's something that was made-up for Sportsman's Guide.

Does anybody have one of these?

I can't find a thing on them. I do know that none of the specs for the Weaver match either the ProSport or ProHunter Simmons scopes of the same power.
You may be right about them being a special item for the Sportsman's Guide.

They are owned by the same company aren't they?

It seems stupid to me to "bastardize" a brand by tacking it on an inferior product...

Me too. I hate it when they do this to the Weaver name.........

Yep, and Bushnell did it to Bausch and Lomb. If it were me, I would wait til I had a little more money and get one of the Redfields. For a buck and a half it seems to me to be a good value in the economy scope rung.
