Looking into getting some Talley 30mm rings (one piece set) for my Remington 700, scope has a 50mm objective. Have tried doing some surfing for my answer but haven't found anything of significance.
Does anyone have experience for the correct high to get?
Depends alot on the scope, barrel contour, etc. My guess would be Medium.
I would call Talley with all the specifics and ask them.
If it's a sporter barrel, Lows will work fine.
I have a 4-12x50 in Talley lows with a #4 barrel.
Thanks guys for the help. Definitely steers me in the right direction.
I ran a 5-20x50 Trijicon on a 700 varmint with 30mm Talley Lows and it barely fit. Anything with a fatter contour or larger exterior front bell diameter would not have worked.
Short or long action? It matters. Dont forget a 30mm tube sits a little higher too. If a short action i would be willing to bet lows will work great
I run the same rings in extra low with 42mm objective/30mm tube on a model seven. Short action and the seven action itself is even shorter, but works great for me
These are Lows with a 44mm, may give you some idea of height!
This is a 700 CDL 25-06
The gun is a Remington 700 CDL SF 270. I'm either going to put a Leupold 4.5-14x50 or a Vortex 4-16x50
Why the insistence on a 50 mm objective?
I'm thinking of pretty much the same setup but with 40 mm Leupold.

Mine is the 4-16x44 HS LR
forepaw: I know a lot of people don't like having a 50mm b/c of the bulkiness etc. but my eyes seem to like it better.
Deputydad: How do you like that scope? That's the one I'm talking about except with 50mm objective. However it is dependent upon me getting it as it has already been a long 3 month wait.
I really like it, the clicks are very positive, glass is very clear, and seems well built. The reticle is a little on the thin side but seems to work well... Hard to beat for the price..
