Looking at a Meopta Artemis 2100 3-12x50 for $499 used or a Leupold 3-9x50 VX-R for around $540 new. Which one is the better scope? Just wanting the best illuminated dot scope for my money.
I was Meopta dealer for several years, and their optic/mechanical quality is top notch. However, all their illuminated 3-12's used to be front focal plain designs, so you might want to check out the one your looking at. I don't want to argue a front focal plane vs second focal plain advantage/disadvantage, but I don't like front focal plane reticles and they are a deal breaker for me. I do have a Leupold VX-R 2-7x33, and I love it. Great optics and the illuminated dot is one of the best I've seen. Perfect, no, but an outstanding buy for the money.
Thank you. That was the answer I was looking for.

Meopta is about the best you can get for your money, but this scope if FFP, not a bad thing, just depends on what your issuing it for, but the clarity will spoil you.
