My grandpa had a 308 winchester model 88 lever action that had a scope mount with a hinge on the side and could be flipped to the side so you could use the iron sites if you wanted. It was really nice because it held the scope very well and it returned back to zero ever time. I think it was made my weaver but I am not 100% sure. I am interested on putting one on my marlin 336 30-30. Does anybody know where I can get one or if any company still makes them today.
I think Weaver discontinued them in about 1980 (+/-). Look at gun shows and ask gunsmiths if they have any in their " good junk" box. You might get lucky. I have a friend that showed me a very gently used 336 so equipped just days ago. I offered him an unseemly price for the mount. He just grinned. Jack
The rings I have, the bases, no.
There was the Weaver mount and also the Pachmayer Lo-Swing. The latter was particularly coveted in AK as I remember. A man who owned a pre-64 model 70 in 338 win/mag so equipped was considered somewhat wise.
Like these maybe?
