I am getting a Whitworth Express .375. It has Redfield base and rings, but I would like to replace that set-up with something that may come back to zero when the scope is taken off and put back on. What are the options out there for this rifle?

Talley is what comes to mind first for me:

I have plain old weaver bases on mine with Leupold QR rings. Works great with my Leupold 1.5 x 5 . I know most folks don't care for old Weaver rings and mounts but I have no issues with them.
Re Weavers---
Use Mule Deer's trick of mounting the rings so that one ring crossbar bears on the front of its mortice, and the other ring bears on the rear of its mortice, and they are surprisingly repeatable. Ugly as a mule, but strong as one as well.
I like Weavers but could not find the # that fir the Whitworth.

Your Whitworth will use the bases for the Interarms Mark X.

My Whitworth sports two-piece Weaver bases and Weaver rings. I carry a spare scope with me on hunts that is ringed and sighted for my .375. I also like the idea of being able to remove the scope and use the open express sights.

That said, I've never had to swap a scope or use the irons in the field. But the option is there.....
Warnes, because they make extention bases to put the scope where ever needed. I also like thier standard and quick detach rings.

If memory serves me correctly the Weaver bases number 45 and 46 are the ones you want. they fit the vast majority of m98 Mausers.

Mine has some Leupold QR bases and rings. Seem nice enough. Would prefer Talley QD, but again, so far so good.
I have the Talleys on my Whitworth .375, and they work very well. (The scope is .458Win's favorite 2.5x Leupold....)

I put a new 3x Leupold on mine, seems to be appropriate. Hope it holds up as well as the 2.5s have.
So far the new 3x I got has held up very well, and has been on my .416 Rigby quite a bit, along other rifles.
I sure appreciate all the help and advice. I have never cared for the Redfield bases and rings. BTW, this is the Whitworth with the screwed on 3 leaf rear and ramp front. What would y'all do for irons-leave them be or get something else?

Good Lord willing it may see a cape buffalo in 18 mos-2years.
I would shoot the rifle with the irons and see how you like 'em.
One last question-anyone ever have to shim the scope bases on a Whitworth so everything would fit? I remember a friend that had a Mark X and he had to shim the rear base IIRC to get the scope to line up properly.
It depends on the individual rifle. I put the Talleys on my .375 back when the Talley company was still in Wyoming, and centered the scope's reticle before mounting. After all the screwes were tightened, the reticle was pretty much centered in my collimator.

Other Whitworth actions might not work the same way.
Thanks John

Everyone have a fine New Year!!
I used warne bases and the detachable rings on mine for two trips to Africa and over 1400 rds. 375HH they worked great. I took 2 scopes in their own rings.
