Ok guy I just sealed the deal on a sako 85 finnlight in 270wsm looking to mount a good optic on doug from vameraland has the 4-14x50 conquest on sale and there is a vx3 LR in the classifieds how do they match up neck to neck the conquest ad says that it comes with a target or hunting turret and the plan is I can send the vx3 off and get a CDS put on I like the opinion of those that have finnlights with either both these scopes or have shot or hunted with both the opinion of fire members is more valued than any sales man please don't make this a bashing thread either I just need some input about a scope if you have a finnlight please post pics if your setups

Zeiss will install an elevation turret for $80.

You can get a yardage or MOA turret from Kenton with a zero stop.

That would cost a few more bucks than the CDS. I mentioned this to level the field somewhat.

Compare FOV's. I think glass quality should be pretty close.

If there is a majority of people that have a better scope in that price range let me know I think these two are the best for the money tho

meopta 4-12x50

The meopta is pretty heavy isn't it

The 50mm Zeiss is 19.75 ounces ..The Meopta is a little lighter but not by much

I have a couple of both scopes with 50 MM objectives and if there's a difference I can't see it even in the last minutes of shooting light. If the VX-3 LR has a 40 MM objective, I think I'd go with the Conquest.

Dirt farmer, did you say that Kenton has a zero stop turret for a zeiss?

What if they are both 50mm

Yeah. Was recently told by a Kenton tech the they have a small ring device that can be had for zero stop. Evidently it's pretty small, held in place by very small screws. The guy told me they would install it I couldn't. Think I'll give it a shot before admitting I can't put it together.

I have and had several of each although the LR's have always been 40's. On a finnlight I would prolly go the LR as its lighter, shorter and optically very close. The Leupy LR 4.5-14 gets bashed for its FOV but that has never bothered me and I don't thinks as bad as other scopes I have used. Like the 2-10 Weaver V10 Classic or the WORST bino I ever bought. The Minox 8x22 compact, what a POJ...

I went with the cameraland deal for the Conquest 4.5-14X50 it just went on my 270WSM today however it's just there for load work while the 3.5-10x44 goes in for an elevation turret. After that it'll live on a 22 for plinking off the bench while the other guns cool down.

The 30yd side focus is great mine goes down to about 27yds which could just be my laser as I didn't roll a tape out, the #20 plex is a little finer than the Conquest 3-9X40 both are an advantage for a paper puncher. The only minus for me is the eye box is more critical however it isn't a problem when testing in my sitting/kneeling/standing positions.

I haven't tried the leupold as I really prefer the constant eye relief through the magnification range the conquest scopes have offered. But I'm sure they are a great scope. I'm pretty well sold on the conquest line. Wish they were a little lighter though.

With those two choices you really can't go wrong.

look hard at the z3 4-12x50....In my opinion, its alot of scope without alot of weight, and the Ballistic Turret system is pretty user friendly if thats something you wanted as well, but the BRH reticle could be enough for most situations, again, only my opinion

I have a Z3 4-12x50 BT with an Outdooramans Turret.

The duplex is sorta fine for general use, but was not bad enough for a $125 German #4 retrofit by Swaro, like I did with my Z5 3.5-18x44.

There is a Z3 3-10x42, don't know about a 2-12x50.

The Z6 comes in 2-12x50 and 1.7-10x42, but they are 30mm, big and expensive Alpha Euros.

I think that's the only Z3 with BT.

I wasn't too enthused about getting a 50mm scope, but with its relative light weight and streamline profile, it's not bulky.

I found the same with my swaro. I was very pleased to find how slim and light this scope is. mounted up like all the 40's and is extremely light. Wonderful optics.

Z3 4-12x50 BT on an Ed Brown Damara .300 Win Mag. Not big or bulky at all. Doesn't even look like a 50mm scope.

Outdoorsmans Turret

I would say out of the 2 listed I would go with the zeiss without a doubt. I'm not bashing the leaupold but have shot a few different ones and just don't think its near a good as the zeiss. Like I say if you like leaupold go for it.

As posted earlier the Meopta 4-12x 50 is a super nice scope. I have not played with the turrets a lot but tracked perfectly when I zeroed my rifle. Mine has the #4 reticle and it is great for lowlight. I. Like the simplicity of it.

Either way I don't think you can go wrong with the listed scopes but the zeiss or Meopta would be my pick

The only 50mm scope I have is on my old model 70 270 I'm just wondering if 14x 50mm scope is over kill for a Finnlight is the turrets on the zeiss cartridge specific like the leupy

There is a new conquest hd 3-15x42 has anyone used these scopes
