Does anyone the specifics on why shipping a rifle scope internationally is not done?
There are export restrictions although I don't understand why.
This is why:

Thanks for the link. Here is the part which confuses me:

(f) Riflescopes manufactured to military specifications (See category XII(c) for controls on night sighting devices.)

I have someone in the UK who wants to buy a scope I have listed on Ebay. It looks like certain countries do not need an export license. Just trying to make sure I don't make a mistake.

I am not going to sell it internationally. Too many regs and the fines are huge if I am wrong.
I have purchased several hunting scopes from the US without any problems. The export restriction applies to tactical style scopes.

The scope has target turrets and an illuminated reticle. It is tactical-like.

Which is complete and utter garbage, because like you, I can buy any of the US made tactical scopes in this country or yours, the restrictions have no effect on the availability of these products for use in non lawful applications.

The reason I purchase optics from US retailers is that they happen to be cheaper.

And Barm, there are numerous US retailers who have their heads around the restrictions and will happily sell overseas.
