Has anyone used this base/ring combo?

I need more fore/aft adjustability for eye relief on my Model 70 featherweight/Leup VX3 combo. I've been making it work with old Weaver rings and bases but with heavy clothes it gets to be more of a problem since the scope tube is short.

I was looking at the Warne to keep the lightweight characteristics of the rifle.

A $110 for a set of aluminum rings?!!!!!!! Warne can kiss my.......

There is nothing they can do to a set of aluminum rings that could possibly make them worth that much money.

I run Burris Zee rings on my rifles these days, including my lightweight Mtn rifles.

Doesn't Weaver make some diferent bases for M70's that will allow you to move the offending ring back a bit more?

Actually, Weaver rings are rather wide, going to a more narrow ring could help?

For lightweight and adjustable, a quality aluminum alloy picatinny rail and rings will get you the same result. I frequently use Warne alloy rails and TPS Aluminum HTR rings.

I'm a bowhunter who rifle hunts about 2 weeks a year and I'm not well versed in scope mounting systems so excuse my ignorance.

Could I just maybe get the Warne rail for $59 and still use my Weaver rings? Warne mentions the Weaver compatibility.

I've checked the Weaver site and can't make heads or tails of what to order. I do think they probably make an aluminum rail that would work but I can't determine which one for M70.

That would help. Weaver has extension rings also, fwiw... I also have to run a longer scope to get the scope back far enough on a M-70 long action--3.5-10 works ok for me.

Try Burris extreme 2 piece bases and Signature Z rings and you will be all set.

Warne aluminum rings are priced very very close to Seekins rings and I guarantee there will not be similiar in quality.

USA made, lifetime warranty, and from my experience - really well made. I like the mountain tech stuff. About to buy one of their pic rails for a Tikka T3

Gotcha. Yeah I don't see much love for the Warne stuff, and maybe that's because of the price point that hovers "tween" everything. Some quality stuff can be had for less, and some really well regarded equipment can be had for just a little more. I like to think Warne is kinda the best of both worlds.

I use lots of Warne 2 piece weaver style steel bases and pair them with TPS Al HRT rings. I've also had good luck with Warne Al picatinny rails on M700 actions.

Which Burris rings did you get?

Warne rings, two gripes, and I have several sets.

1) Weight for the steel ones

2) The piece that keeps the ring in place - fits in the cross slot - is a royal pain during installation.

I do like the appearance of those that use a left and right half. I bought a half dozen sets in the cabela's Bargan Cave a few years ago @ under $9 per set. Seemed like a good deal at the time.

Seem to recall folks whining about Warne's because they are cast. Not sure if this is true.

Warne Maxima Fixed rings and bases are a staple for me. Have never let me down.

They're a good product and I suspect this new product would be also, but time will tell.

Have you looked at S&Ks at all?

That's where I'd go personally.

The rings look pretty good, and the price isnt completely insane for what they are.

In the 34mm variety...they are cheaper than the Nightforce UL, Seekins, Vortex matched..and even the Burris Xtremes. Looks like a pretty good deal to me, for a good looking ring from a good company.

The Warne Mountain Tech rail alone solved all my eye relief problems. New rings not needed.

My original Weaver rings fit right on the rail with perfect eye relief positioning. I'm going to use the Burris rings on my daughter's new Ruger .22
