I've used Talley lightweights for the past decade. Decided to try a pair of weaver bases and 30mm signature zee rings. Mounted them on a model 70 338 mag with a 3-9 SS. After about 6 rounds I noticed that the scope was slipping forward. Made sure all 8 of the ring screws were farmer snug, definitely tighter than I'm used to and ran about 15 more rounds through it. Still slipping. I'm not sure if the oil that came on the rings is adding a little to much lube to the plastic inserts or what. I'll clean any oil off and try it again.

You could try lightly sanding the inserts (just enough for better gripping) and applying a light coat of rubber cement.

I have never had a scope move in these rings and they are my choice when mounting a scope on a heavy recoiling pistol. inserts need to be oil free.

I'd wrap the scope with electrical tape, one layer, then mount. I've never had the trouble and I'm 100% Zee sig. I leave the oil on my rings.

Do you have the inserts matched correctly, i.e. 0's with another 0, -10 with +10?

Clean them with denatured alcohol. I use rubber cement on all my rings.It may help your issue. I would likely just switch to something else.It's possible you got some not molded to the correct dimension. I would switch rings,clean all contact surfaces,including the scope with denatured alcohol,and use the rubber cement.

I rough up the inside of the insert with emery cloth and use a dusting of powdered rosin, in response to a scope slipping with a .300 WM.

I have used them a lot and they never slip. Clean them good, no need to scuff them. I do use a small drop of Gorilla glue on some applications but not always. The composite inserts really grip well.

Cleaned everything really good and snugged them tight. Four rounds of 225 Accubond and the scope slid forward 1/4 inch. WTF?

Heavy kicker,heavy scope,may require a different approach. You could try some rubber cement on both the inside and outside surfaces of the inserts after cleaning with denatured alcohol,but I wouldn't trust them any more.

I've used Burris Signature Zee rings and not had any issues but they were used on light scopes and light recoiling rifles.

I'll try some silicon or rubber cement. If that doesn't work I'll switch to dual dovetails and try again.

I don't think you should have to get creative to make the rings work. If they were properly installed and the scope is slipping, send them back and get some different rings.

I use the signatures on my .338 Win mag. Model 700. It's not a heavy rifle and it does kick. I also shoot 225 Gr. bullets. Never had a problem with the rings slipping. I also use them in my 375 H&H shooting 270 Gr. TSX. Again no slippage. If you're still having problems give Burris a call. A different set of inserts might solve the problem.

I will give them a call. After my first round of slippage I swapped the scope for a lighter Leupold in a 1" set of the same. No issues. Except the scope wouldn't hold zero after a dozen rounds. Need to send that in too.

Have you measured the scope tube itself? Is it undersized somehow?

Are the ring halves bottoming out on each other somehow? If so, you could file a bit of space in there for them to clamp tighter.

Something is out of spec with the rings IMHO.

Send back to Burris or lap the mating surfaces of the rings till they shine uniformly. A piece of 600 grit wet or dry on a piece of glass will work. I would then use form-a-gasket from the auto supply store on the inside and outside of the inserts. This is stickier and tougher than rubber cement and I have not had one slip on any I have used this on. It also helps prevent ring rash but that is not an issue with the Z rings.
