I've always been a Leupold person, but I recently came across a Sightron 4-16, which has me thinking,,,,
I've got a 308 build I'm working on....

Who actually owns and shoots a Sightron?
Are they worth the money?
Honor their warranty?
Made in USA?

I've had a Sightron S1 3.5-10X50 for years. It's been on numerous rifles and currently sits on my Howa. Always holds zero with precise, repeatable click adjustments and clarity. Sightron also has a lifetime warranty, but I've never had to use it. And yes it's made in the USA.

I've got a silver 4-16 SII Big Sky on my stainless 270. I bought it because it was one of the few they had left when they were running the big rebates on them 3-4yrs ago. The glass is fantastic and what little I've dialed with it seems to be spot on. The glass is easily the equal of the two VX3s I've owned. It's a bit much magnification on a deer rifle and I'd prefer 1/4 clicks instead of the 1/8 that it has. I'm going to order one of the stainless 8 twist Tikka 22-250s from Whittaker's so it may get moved over to that one.

I haven't heard much about their warranty coverage, but to me that's a good thing. I figure if people were having issues, we'd all know about it. I'm leery when people are constantly pointing out warranty coverage as a big selling point. If a lot of people are having to use the warranty, that doesn't say much for the quality of the product.

My experience with their "warranty" was definitely not a selling point for me to buy more.

I've had several Big Sky scopes... Would easily put them with my VX 3. Never had any warranty issues so....

Ordered a Sightron 3x16x42 S-TAC 3- MOA reticle for my Whittakers 22-250 Tikka along with a Tikka Performance Picatinny Rail . The scope is compact and the rail will give me position options. Now which rings to use?

I have five. One S1 one S2 and three S2 Big Sky.The S1 is not near the quality of the S2 and S2 Big Sky . The Big Sky's are better than the S2 but not the big difference between them and the S1.I had one customer service experience scope was damaged no fault of Sightron replaced at less than 1/3 the price of a new one .They were a little slow and took several phone calls to keep things moving.The S2 Big Skys are a very good scope but they are discontinued Grafs had them for around $250 last Tuesday saw it at work got home went to order they were sold out.

I've got two cheap Phillipines made Sightron SIH TAC 3-9x40 scopes with Mil Dot reticles. One on a 223 American Compact and the other on a little 22 LR that I stretch out past 400 yards occasionally.

Both have been really good for the money. Track well and hold zero.

Not sure how they'd hold up on a heavy kicker and probably not likely to find out.

I received the catalog yesterday No where does it say Made in the USA!
It says PRINTED in the USA. Curious now, are they Japanese? Vietnamese? European?

I'll try to find a dealer and see if there's a hint on the box?

I have nearly two dozen Sightron scope in service and all have worked fine.

I have the S1H 4-12x40AO style installed on several light recoiling rifles chambered in 22, 22Mag, 17HM2, 17HMR, 223, 22-250, 243, and 6.5 Creedmoor. This particular scope offers a lot of features for around $150 per unit.

Besides the 4-12x40AOs, I also have several discontinued styles installed; 1x20, 2.5x20, 2.5-7x32, 2.5-8x42, 2.5-10x32, 2.5-10x44, 3-9x32RF, and 3-9x40. One of the 2.5-10x44s is mounted on a CLR in 30-06 and holds its zero fine.

I like Sightrons enough to own 23 of them, but don't think that I'd have enough confidence in them to take them on a once in a lifetime hunt, but they have worked find shooting paper, varmints, and whitetails under less than demanding environmental conditions.

My not so cheap 3x16x42 S-TAC is made is the Philippines.

The big sky/sIII model glass will hang in there with anything I've looked through for light transmission, to my eyes. I used to use a 6x42 to gauge other scopes I bought for low light. Tracking was excellent on those I tried/owned, but I never ran them for more than general hunting and range use. They are known for tracking and Target use, from what I'd always heard. Good glass.

I have the same scope with the moa-3 reticle. Dialed it over and over to 1000+ and it is consistent. That reticle is worthless in low light though FYI. I have a s3 that is awesome too and plan on another illuminated version when I get the money.

Sightron used to be one of the most underrated scopes on the market, with the SII Big Sky and SIII's having as good as glass as just about anyone else on the market. I have a couple SII's, a Big Sky, and SII, and they are fantastic scopes.

Not only are they great scopes, but customer service is top notch.

My Sightron scopes are boringly reliable- mount, sight in, shoot and hunt no doubt it will repeat. One is on my most abused rifle a Ruger 30-06 the other a rimfire scope is on a 10/22 that gets shot quite a bit. Can't remember making an adjustment in years to either.

Sightron are their own enemy. A few simple changes would make their glass top tier.

It will be mounted on Tikka 22-250 when they come in. Noticed it will be low light challenged.

I run several of the Big Sky's. I think they are a good/ great hunting scope; decent glass and spot on adjustments. I haven't had an issue with a single one.
I recently couldn't pass up a deal on the S-Tac 3-16x42. So far so good with it. Pretty good glass and adjustments have been flawless. The side focus lacks yardages on the dial but it sure focuses in nice and sharp. The MOA-3 reticle would be great if you could get it illuminated but not an option, so I got the only other reticle offered for it- duplex for hunting.
