I wear glasses and using binocs can be a pain. Are there any brands of binocs out there that are particularly well suited to glassing while wearing eye glasses?

Thanks.

I use the Nikon Monarchs and they work pretty well for me with glasses.

With my eyeglass prescription, it is all about the retractable eyecups, a large eyepiece and long eye relief. 19 to 20mm of eye relief works well. I am trying a new binocular with 17mm eye relief but it has a large eyepiece. The Swarovski 7x42 SLC works well but it is out of print.

I find that ~16MM is the least amount of eye relief and 17+ is better. Cameraland often lists the eye relief if you need to research a particular set. Meopta Meostar/Cabelas Euro in 32MM and 42MM objectives work very well for me w/glasses. Others that I own or have used that work well for me are Leica Geovids as well as Geovid HD-B in 8x, 10x, and 15x, Swaro SLC HD 15x56, Zeiss Victory RF in 8x and 10x.
As mentioned above. Over 16mm is wanted, 17mm works well, but 19mm is pretty much ideal. Our Toric 8x42 does have 19mm of ER and would work well for you. If you want more may, ER goes down a bit, but our 10x still gets 17mm ER.

Slidellkid,
I wear glasses all the time while hunting and have found the Swaro SLC's to be very good to where I don't even feel my view is diminished at all. I would expect the same with all the Swaro binoc models.
Some of it depends on how deep-set your eyes are, but what Trevor posted is a good general rule.

Totally agree with this. As a glasses wearer, I've had a few different binoculars, including a few high dollar ones, but the Swaro 7x42 SLC is still the one I prefer and will likely keep to the end. Maybe a little heavy, but with a good strap, not a problem. These are well worth it for the large "picture window" view they give, not to mention the quality of that view. Highly recommend them if you stumble onto a pair in good shape.

Every-one has a bit different facial set up. I have a pretty good sized skull with deep set eyes and find 19-20mm of eye relief necessary to get a relaxed full field of view. Less than that and it is not comfortable for me. Without glasses I have astigmatism and so will simply be magnifying distortion. Vortex Vipers in 8X42's work great for me. I cant find a 10x42 with enough eye relief though there are some 10x50's that can work. Also beware the eye relief measure from the company as some might measure differently. Best to try out the binos you want to try.

I find it best to hold my eye glasses with my teeth or set em aside and use without glasses.

just checking - you are folding down or retracting the eyecups when using glasses - right?

Use Nikon 8X42 HG DCF. They are second-to-none in terms of optical quality and have 20mm eye relief. They are discontinued but can still be found on the market.
