Currently have a Leupold 4-12 AO in dual dovetail bases and 1" medium rings on this standard barrel contour rifle. Am leaning toward using medium 30mm dual dovetail rings with the SS.

Recommendations?
here`s my 2 cents: I now use only picatinny bases and rings ,it does cost more but it`s a lot more easy to change scopes around and truthfully a much better scope mounting system too
Seekins 30 MOA picatinny bases, coupled with Burris 30mm XTR 1" high Signature Rings:

Leupold DDs for me (medium, reversable front).

I haven't had any issues or failures with DDs, and I cant see needing canted bases with as much elevation adjustment as those scopes have.

Should fit with lows, but mediums work out just right for me.

Holston,

Rational for canted bases even for scopes with enormous travel is that every Mil under zero is wasted. And 30 MOA bases don't cost more than 0 MOA Bases. It issue with DD's is not the failure of the rings and bases but the failure of your primary optic, that's the weak link in the whole system. Also using a picatinny rail as a base allows you to keep a spare scope already sighted in on a hunt in case your primary scope goes tits up or gets broke. Can't do that with DD's......With pic rails and rings I can swap in a pre-sighted in scope in under a minute, and return to zero within a 1/2 MOA or less. Close enough for minute of buck......
Do you think lows would allow the bolt to clear the eyepiece? Otherwise it looks like lows would be fine up front.
I have even put picatinny bases and rings on my Ruger number 1`s that I use. bench rest shooters are all switch`n over to picatinny bases and rings too.

A pic rail of your choosing and a set of Burris XTR Sig medium rings in 30mm (only because they don't make lows) would be my suggestion.
Seekins low rings on a pic base with SWFA 6x42's work great on several different rifles for me.
I always thought that DDs were about the most reliable system available.

Toss the ability to add inclination out the window, pic base and rings still preferred over DDs for strength/reliability?

Might re-think my mounting options if I've been wrong...
