Having a time trying to find out torque specs for dnz mounts. This is my first time mounting a scope on my own and i dont want to damage my nice scope and dont want screws coming loose either (which has happened 3 yrs in a row now - thanks to a gunsmth apparently mistorquing or not degreasing). It says 25lbs on the box but doesnt specify base or rings. On their site they say up to 30lbs for ring screws. i dont know if im going to use loctite dnz says not needed and also read it can lead to over torquing. Should i just mount the thing dry and go for 22-25lbs on the base and 28-30 on the ring screws?

If it was me and you leave the fasteners dry I would stick with 20 in/lb, if you use the loctite making the threads wet I would do 25 in/lb. For the ring screws somewhere between 15 and 20 in/lb should keep it tight without bending your scope tube.

Leave the screws dry and torque the screws with the provided Allen wrench. Hold the wrench down in the screw head with your index finger and tighten with the other hand. When the wrench first starts to flex stop tightening. That's the old directions. I have used this method on my DNZ mounts with no problems. Using Loctite or any bonding agent will void the warranty.

I would use Loctite if you have had issues in the past. Never seen Loctite hurt a thing. Use green or blue and you won't have screws coming loose. The torque will change. It you torque to 25 wet (with Loctite) it will stress the scew more than 20 in/lbs dry. Don't over think it though. Use the bent wrench method with a dab of Loctite.

I used just a verrry light bit of loctite on the bases and torqued to 20 or 22. Used nothing on the screw rings and tightened to 25 as per instructions. Hope it holds. Got er sighted in today!

I used DNZ on a 338 Win Mag and tightened them 20 in/lbs and the ring screws came loose. The same thing happened when I used their allen key and tightened till the allen key bends a little bit and hold for 8 secs. I had to re-tighten the ring screws plenty of times on the DNZs. Now I use a warne type base and burris sig/ xtr rings. I guess loctite will work but is not advised by DNZ and I needed 20 moa

Yikes!! Ill check mine regularly i know in instructions on the site they say 25 on rings but can go to 30. Think i set my wrench just a touch over 25. Its on a 270 so no heavy kicker. Hopefully i wont have an issue. Ive got to install another scope maybe today on my bergara i picked up some talleys for it
