I need to replace the scope on my bolt action 22 Rimfire. I have a 4x scope now which my father bought years ago but it won't hold zero any longer. I figure to probably put another 4x scope on it. Do I need a rimfire specific scope? I think probably so just for parallax purposes but could use some advice. I do not need a super high end scope but want something decent. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Edited to add that I just read the post about 4x scopes and saw someone liked the Weaver K4. Seems like a decent option for my needs as long as it will work fine on a 22 Rimfire but I am unsure about that.

Weaver has a rimfire 4x28 that costs less than their K4. I have their rimfire scope in 2.5-7x28 and it's a fine scope.
In the major brand scopes the only difference between a “rimfire” and standard centerfire scope is where the parallax is set. Generally fixed power rimfire scopes are set for 50 yards while standard scopes are set for 100 yards parallax. Most major scope companies can also charge from one to the other for little or no fee.

I highly recommend the Bushnell 22 scope, the 2 I have work very well.

Someone on here recommended a Burris FFII 3-9 to me for a 22. I bought one and I’m very happy with it; and the ballistic Plex reticle works well with the 22.
It works extremely well for .22’s

Browning1892- what works well? Several different scope options have been discussed.

I have Weaver and Leupold 4x rimfire scopes and like both just fine. The Weaver has A thicker reticle which is little better in A dark squirrel woods.

I have a 4x weaver on my .22 and it works good on anything I shoot with it. Bunnies up close to PDS as far as I care to shoot at with a rimfire.............

Spend a little more (~$189.00)and get a Nikon Target EFR 3-9x40. Wonderful rimfire scope.

Here's a few suggestions:

From Hawke
#14273 Vantage 30mm 1-4x24 L4A Dot
or
Hawke 3-9x40

In an Athlon I would say to go with the Talos 4-16x40 or the Argos 3-15x40 good with low light both a low point and not over kill for a slug gun.

Please give me a call to discuss

Nikon's PROSTAFF 3-9 Target EFR is a heck of a scope with a lot of features. A brand new option from Nikon is their new P-Tactical Rimfire scope. All aluminum,no plastic, BDC or new MOA reticle option and backed by Nikon's No Fault Warranty. Definitely worth checking out.

Sorry, the ballistic plex reticle from Burris works great not just for .22’s but I’ve also used it well on the 17HMR

Wyoming260- which Weaver are you using? The K4 or Rimfire model?

That Nikon Prostaff 3-9 looks interesting. Heavier than I would ideally like but I don't figure to pack this rifle around much so no big deal.

I went with a Weaver Kaspa rimfire on my t-bolt. Clear scope have yet to sight in.

I have a couple of Weaver RV9 3-9x32 AO rimfires scopes on CZ 452's, and a couple of Burris C4 3-9x40's on Rem 541's. I've heard folks talk about paralax issues using 'big game' scopes on rimfires but have never had any issues.

I just picked up a nice Leupold FXII 4x33 and had the parallax adjusted to 50 yards and put it on my Anschutz 1710. Nice and clear and I think a bit better than the Rimfire model.

The Bushnell rimfire scope when zeroed has turrets marked for 75, 100 125 yards also hash marks on the reticle for those yardages. On can dial or use the reticle. I ha 2 of them and they are very good and not overly expensive.

If a smaller size scope is what you want for better fit and balance I have enjoyed my leupold 2-7 rimfire scope very much. I also have larger/longer AO models on some of my other rimfires and enjoy them too but they are more of an informal range gun set up. But for plinking, woods walking set up, that leupold is nice and the weaver rimfire series would be too.

JWP475, do you have this Bushnell? 3.5-10x 36mm (613510B). Seems likely that I will buy one of these.

I went ahead and ordered the Bushnell scope. Looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
