Zeiss Conquest fakes on Ebay- a report - 02/26/18
Bought a 3-9 for $68.00 shipped from China.
It arrived and was mounted on a 22 rimfire Savage of known accuracy.
Although marked Zeiss and Assembled in USA it was obviously not a Conquest because:
AO, lift to adjust knobs w/o caps, illuminated, mil dot reticle, sunshade, flip up lens caps, rubber washers under adjustments. Shipped from China.
Appearance was fine. View was clear at all Xs. AO worked. Lens caps were superior to any I have seen. Soft compound w/positive sealing. Illumination red/green worked fine and did not wash out in bright sun. The euro focus adjusted too easily.
Shot "the square" several times and in all cases it was square and the last group landed on the first.
Conclusion: for 68 bucks it's a decent scope, as good as many costing 2X as much. Fine for a plinker or "behind the door" pest gun.
I'd never trust on a big game rifle subjected to bad weather and rough treatment.
Also made is a 4.5-14 and 6-24.
