Bought a 3-9 for $68.00 shipped from China.

It arrived and was mounted on a 22 rimfire Savage of known accuracy.

Although marked Zeiss and Assembled in USA it was obviously not a Conquest because:

AO, lift to adjust knobs w/o caps, illuminated, mil dot reticle, sunshade, flip up lens caps, rubber washers under adjustments. Shipped from China.

Appearance was fine. View was clear at all Xs. AO worked. Lens caps were superior to any I have seen. Soft compound w/positive sealing. Illumination red/green worked fine and did not wash out in bright sun. The euro focus adjusted too easily.

Shot "the square" several times and in all cases it was square and the last group landed on the first.

Conclusion: for 68 bucks it's a decent scope, as good as many costing 2X as much. Fine for a plinker or "behind the door" pest gun.

I'd never trust on a big game rifle subjected to bad weather and rough treatment.

Also made is a 4.5-14 and 6-24.
Did the 68 dollar price kind of tip you off ? Just Asking
I knew going into it what it was as I own 5 genuine Conquests.

There are also fake Leupolds as well.

For the price it is a throwaway but would like to know what kind of build quality it has for that amount of money.
The problem with this is, you are feeding the despot Chicoms, by buying this junk.....

Don't do it.

The quality is decent, certainly as good as BSA with better optics.

As far as the Chinese go, probably 90% of low end manufactured goods come from China. Most not even made in the USA.

This scope was advertised as a Zeiss, not a copy. I have reported it to Ebay and opened a case for a refund.

Hope some found the information of use.
Instead of nitrogen filled it might be full of poison gas which will leak into your snout..
Would like to see someone tear down a fake and a genuine article side by side, see hiw big the differences are. For $68 you gotta think it's gotta be pretty craptacular as far as materials and workmanship goes.
I'm sure there would be a big difference. $68 vs $400 is a lot.

For anyone to think this is a real Zeiss would be a real case of the stupids.

If you're going to sell a fake it has to be an exact appearance match to the real thing.

The fake Leupold 1.5-5 is a far better imitation than the Zeiss fakes.

Saw today on the news that many fakes are sold on Amazon by third party sellers. Cosmetics, electronics and food products.

There is also a guy on Amazon who has numerous fake companies claiming to sell Schmidt Bender scopes for $300-700.

He has been reported to Amazon numerous times --- they do nothing.
Update:

I filed a case w/Ebay on "not as represented", i.e. not a Zeiss as advertised. Buyer claimed he was send a return post paid label. He did not.

I f/u with Ebay and was given a full refund.
