I like the look of a silver scope with silver rings on a silver (stainless) hunting rifle. I don't so much like the look of a blue/black/matte scope on a stainless rifle.

what happened?

Leupold no longer seems to make them for rifles, Only few Nikons left at the mail order places.

I see a few handgun scopes, but not rifle scopes.

there are lots and lots of stainless rifles out there, stainless on plastic, stainless on wood....but not much choice in scopes to go with them.

Poole
Yes they because they are ugly
I have seen a few Burris FFII's still for sale on various websites. I have 2 silver rifle scopes, and I don't know if I ever got to where I actually liked them.

You are one of the few.
Silver scopes – the Liberace of hunting optics. smile
They are ugly as $hit. The scopes never match stainless receivers, nor do they match rings.

Thank you... someone had to say it.
Hopefully gloss will follow....
I left my silver scope out in the sun and it turned brown....

If they were selling well enough to keep them in the line, they'd still be there, just like everything else in the world. Such is life.

FWIW, I think silver handgun scopes look okay on a SS handgun, but on a rifle, blecchh! In addition, they're too flashy in the woods.

They very seldom matched, and with all the coatings out now, its tought to get the colors to look right. In my opinion, the silver scopes looked very cheap. I had the same thought as you and always tried to get stainless( read as silver) scopes to go with my stainless guns. I have several Leupold Vari-X IIc in silver and I cant stand them. I dont know why they are different than the same scope in black, but they seem to be. I have learned to like black rings and scopes on stainless guns. It looks fine if the stock is black synthetic. Might not look as good with a wood and stainless set up.
I have some I might sell... lol
I don't hate a silver scope on a stainless gun but as many have mentioned they almost never match. Throw in rings and now you have a third shade of silver. Much easier to run a black scope.

That being said, I have a matte stainless browning with a silver leupold on it that was just too good to pass and it looks pretty good on it, I did however use black rings.

Scope looks almost white in that pic.
Look like spinner rims on a ‘63 Vette......

Snowboardguy’s Browning looks nice. The exception rather than the rule. I don’t have any stainless rifles for no other reason than I just don’t, so I never had a use for a silver scope. A guy that hunted with us a couple of years ago had a silver Leupold on a blue synthetic A-Bolt. Spinner rims....
Liberace Edition...... that's great stuff....
Got an ancient Lyman that's lost its finish if you're interested. Kinda-sorta silver.😛
Don;t know if they quit making Silver rifle scopes. Have no desire to.
Don't need another one. I have ONE mounted and every time I hunt with it I feel like I'm waving a neon flag.
I hope so.

But, what if you have a silver scope on a .270?

Silver VX-III 3.5-10x40 on a Kimber Montana 300 WSM (dreaded black rings and bases though)

I was thinking more like two negatives make a positive.

I'm never not going to like silver scopes grin (who was it that always like using that in his posts?)
Never had one but I like the silver on stainless look.

I have two 270's set up just like MuskegMan--SS rifles, silver scopes, and blued/anodized rings and bases.

Is there such a thing as quadruple gay?..........
Silver scopes are so 90s!
Just put a Zeiss Diavari-C 1" 3-9×36 T* SILVER on a stainless rifle with lightweight silver talleys. I must be delirious.
I have a silver VX 3 3.5-10x40. Hardly used . Nice clear scope. Its in its original box in my closet next to my thin ties awaiting for both to come back in style. I bought it when I was going through my stainless encore phase.
I spoke with Meopta in Czech republic and have some Silver MeoStar R1 4-16x44 Z II Plex scopes on the way and I got them coming for only $799.99. This scope, black, normally sells for $1,099.95. In Silver @$799.99 this is a find.

If you're interested please give us a call, 516-217-1000, and I'll reserve one for you
Burris still has one
I will only put a silver scope and silver bases and rings on a silver barrel. I don’t care if they are not the same tones. There are fewer silver scopes being made. At the worst I suppose I can always paint a scope, bases and rings silver in the future.
At some point in time, the internet decided that the 270 Winchester was gay. The same thing happened to silver scopes. However, both get the job done well. It just depends on whether or not one allows the internet to make your decisions on such matters.
I have two NIB Leupold silver 2 1/4" sunshades for the old 40mm AO.
Had 3 but took one to paint LOL

Beer n spray paint.............beats paying 60 bucks for a factory black sunshade IMHO
Is the meopta target turrets with ao?
I have a silver Meopta Meostar on a SS Tikka. The scope has black accents making it look great with the Talley rings. And, the barrel finish is a perfect match to the scope.

Glad idk it wasn’t cool. Especially considering that Tikka is a .270. I’ll have to stop liking it now that I know better. LOL!!!

I do get the too bright for the woods thing though. It’s like a light saber.
Yes they did quit making them, thank God. Seeing them on any rifle causes my eyes to hurt. RJ
Preach it Brother!

When it comes right down to it, very seldom does any scope make any rifle look better. Regrettably, iron sight are getting hard to find as standard equipment, and even worse, I can’t do much with them past 100 yards. I’m back to playing with See All sights. Have one on my air rifle, one on a .308, and one on a .44 magnum Low Wall. Another arrived yesterday for my .410.

So far so good, but watch the Classifieds for a See All Clearance Sale if the experiment fails.

That is quite disturbing! grin grin grin
And yet you just can’t look away……..
Silver is not Tactical, so it's not going to sell. When scope manufacturers learn to term it Sniper Grey they'll sell like hotcakes.
Pappy, good luck with the "See Alls". I keep hoping that soon I will see a technical break through that will give red dots a dot image as sharp as a prism scope for old eyes with the feather weight of a micro red dot sight. I suppose the Bushnell Li'l P does that now. I would like a larger lens but the Bushnell does work. I'm still using mine. RJ
Lots of cerakoted options.

> those are some nice looking rifles , i kinda like silver scopes on certain rifles too !
Black scopes on a stainless barrel and action are so ugly. Lol
I hate to see how you coordinate when you dress.
Matte black on everything.

I’ve never had one. I like the gloss scopes
Few years back dealers were clearing out Remington M7 Predators and I traded into a 243. With a full fluted sporter contour barrel at 22" it balanced extremely well. Predators were camo finished front to rear. You set it down in the wrong place and it's damn hard to see. Understand now how some people lose guns in the woods. It wears a Vari X llc 3x9 SILVER so I can find it when the need demands that I set it down. Pretty [bleep] simple ain't any uglier than some of the paint jobs on high dollar "custom" guns you see on 24 hr campfire threads.. sometimes I think a lot of you guys got nothing better to do than lay around thinking about all the sh*t you don't like. Mb
Silver scopes and rings are fine. Just wish they would make silver receivers!
