Bought a new Zeiss V4 4X16 2 days ago .Mounted it up last nite and got it zerod and gave it a quick tracking test .Once zerod I fired one shot and cranked in 20 MOA 1 more shot then back to the zero stop. 5 shots at zero, 5 at 20 MOA. Two 5 shot groups perfectly centered. About the size of a quarter. That's about the capability of this rifle especially given the conditions. I think I am going to like this scope.! The reticle and hash marks are much more visible than my NF SHV

Clicks are sharp, Zero stop very positive and numbers easy to read.

More to follow.

Thanks for the review. I've been looking hard at one of those scopes.

I have also been looking at these, which reticle did you get?

I just picked one of these up from another forum member for the 6.5 Creed I got, looking forward to stretching it out.

I sold one I had to AlaskaCub and kept another for my 6.5 saum that Jon Beanland is putting together. My experience with them matches the OP. Heck of a scope

ZMOA--2

Three relatively heavy post to a crosshair with MOA hash marks. Simple not cluttered and very visible

There is one thing however that has me a bit pizzed…..there is no book or instruction manual. There is a sort of quick start sheet with some picto gparphs on setting up the zero stop, but it's crude. It is written in every language EXCEPT English. COME ON ZIESS THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FOR NORTH AMERICA.

I called the dealer and he checked other the boxes...nada on directions.

Fortunatly I found a video on you tube that was helpful.

I will give ziess a call tomorrow

I may be missing out but I've never needed directions for a scope. Is there something specific that isn't understood without the directions?

Bought the 4x16 and after shooting it with great results, bought the 6x24 too.The 6x24 has ZMOA-1 instead of ZMOA-2 in the 4x16.
It would have been nice if the instructions would have explained the Zero stop. You may have to take it off to be able to sight the gun in.
Make sure to take the stop off or have that little wrench with you when sighting in.Easy set up once you do it once.

I am looking at this scope and a SHV. I need to find some place that has both(not very likely) or buy both and send one back (most likely)
Posted By: leftycarbon Re: Zies V4 - 12/07/18
Olde

I have both. SHV on my NULA and the new Zeiss on my .264 Mag. The image through both is excellent but the MOA scale and CH on the SHV are much finer almost too fine. I shot a MD buck this year at 408 yds. He was in oak brush. No problem with the center of the CH but the "come ups" got "lost" in the brush and took a bit to sort out. Not a big deal but you need to be aware that its there.

Scope is reliable and I have total confidence in it.

The MOA hash marks in the Ziess are very pronounced and more space between so I think they will be much easier to see. The CH and come ups are fine enough for precision, but kind of a moot point as this scope will mostly be "clicked.

Both scopes just excellent.

man I so wish zeiss would make the 6-24x50mm with a simple #60 illum reticle and not all the clutter. I have a conquest v4 3-12x56mm with illum #60 ret on the way to me. but, dang the extra mag would be nice.

Big Ed,
You find the #93 reticle cluttered?

Zeiss Z4

#93 reticle

Doug-

I can't answer for Big Ed, but for me, that #93 reticle is useless in very low light as the entire thing illuminates.

How time flies. I seem to recall a ton of people bashing S&B for a 3.5” eye relief scope last year.

OP, not aimed at you...

doug just now seeing this. i don't have a z4. i have a conquest v4 with the #60 illum ret which i love the reticle but haven't had the opportunity to mount it on my rifle and take her outside at dusk to see whats what. i've also never looked at the #93 ret but i don't like a busy reticle in the least. i'm with bobby on this one. i like a simple german #4ish ret with just the very middle illum which the zeiss #60 does in spades. i wanted to like the s&b L4 but the segmented lines and middle dot just didn't do it for me.

Actually, I don't hunt at all. Can't anymore. My shot opportunities are purely by chance from here at the house -- and they are quite rare. The majority of them are in very low light or moonlight conditions. That's why optical performance is so important to me. I don't want to waste an opportunity because my optics weren't up to the task.
