Doug, or any of you other experts on here concerning spotting scopes. Can you give me some real world opinions on the better spotters for use such as BPCR spotting, 600 to 1000 yd. Thoughts on Swarovski, Leica, Nightforce or other higher end spotters? Would rather buy and cry once than try a bunch of different scopes that don't cut it. I have used all sorts of spotters for Silhouette, etc like 500 and under, but most of these won't tell you a whole lot at further distances. May look for a good used spotter if I have an idea of what to look for. Thanks for sharing your expertise and experience. Russ

I'm not familiar with bpcr. What do you need to resolve at 600-1000? Hits on painted steel is pretty easy. Bullet holes in paper is another matter.

I am familiar with BPCR. Ability to spot hits, whether on painted steel or holes in paper, depends on light and contrast. IMO, you "need" the best optics you can afford. For hunting, even more so.

Posts that say "I need a scope that will let me to see bullet holes at xxx yards" are pretty meaningless.

The best of the best spotters are, IMO, Kowa, Swarovski and Leica.
There's a HUGE difference in spotting holes in paper between Black, Beige and White paper. Mirage is a big factor as well

The new Swaro modular stuff is the best, period. The Meopta S2 can hang with anything else made by anyone else. I've had them side by side in the field. That's the way my eyeballs see it anyway.
