ok fellas in researching rings for a cz-527 american i see that tikka t3 factory rings are an apparent option. thats wonderful news as i've got 4-5 sets of 'em from tikka t3 purchases and not using them but opting for a rail and burris sig zee rings. anywho, the cz-527 has a cut out for a recoil lug on the rear ring. the tikka t3 rings also have a recoil pin inserted in one of the rings. if using the factory aluminum tikka t3 rings on the cz-527 american action will the recoil pin line up correctly and be able to be utilized or will i have to somehow pull the recoil pin out of the offending ring? i found all this out from mackay sagebrush about being able to use tikka t3 factory rings on cz-527 dovetail but i wanted to pose the question to y'all and see what your thoughts were on this subject matter.
thanks,
Big Ed
Being that both dovetails are 15mm the rings will fit either. I have a CZ-527 but never tried the rings but shouldn't be hard to fix the recoil pin.
thanks rem280. i see where other members have used the tikka t3 factory rings on the cz-527 but i was just wondering about the recoil pin in the rear ring and if that would mate up with the cutout in the cz-527 dovetail or it would have to be modded or take out altogether.
thanks,
Ed
Everybody knows Tikka rings are junk.

Avoid the farmer tight run from, and/or,
Replace the screws with hardware store screws and they are fine.

The nobody's that know nothing use them with no trouble.
I know of two 7 mags and a 338 that have used them for darn near 10 years,
those guys don't realize the rings are bad.

They just keep shooting deer, a couple elk, and 1 moose.
The moose was even in Alaska!!

If you have 4-5 sets, you should have multiple rings without lugs.

ETA:
I agree with replacing the fasteners with some hardened ones. At least for the ones that clamp to the rail.
thanks bearded. i just came to that conclusion myself. i said dummy just use the ring that doesn't have the pin stop from (2) sets......... i guess the rings/scope won't slide forward without the pin stopping forward movement?? crank 'em to what 25in/lbs maybe??
edit to add: anybody know what the thread pitch is for the fasteners on the tikka rings incase i wanna swap 'em out??
thanks,
Big Ed
now, i'm just hoping the bolt will clear the meopta meopro 4.5-14x44mm ocular/eyepiece with the lower tikka rings. the rifle,527 american in 204 ruger, isn't very old so maybe i at least have the updated bent bolt from the factory.
thanks,
Big Ed
I would try the recoil pin.

Look long and hard at any mounting system you can find except rim fire dovetails,
They will have some recoil lug in them.
Sako does, Ruger fits in a hole, Weaver/picatinny, same.

There is a reason why Leupold came out with the dual dovetail.
The traditional Redfield design only had the front "lug", the rear was horizontal
support, not front to back. Hard kickers with huge scopes were having problems.
Well fellas I mounted the meopta meopro 4.5-14x44 and have clearance on the eyepiece. Looks pretty good and yes I knocked the recoil pin out with a hammer and punch.
Thanks,
Big Ed
