M8 6x36, again.
And again.......
Just plain works.
Nice Jim!! I'm also fond of the older Leupolds. between 4 and 6 power is all you need for most hunting.
Steve
I was hiking with my dad up a frosty canyon. He slipped and whacked his VXII leupold scope bell. We used my rifle (with a 6x36 FXII) instead for a shot on a coues buck at 250 yards. Checked his zero later on, it was off over a foot at 100 yards. So we killed a leupold scope and killed a nice buck with a leupold scope on the same hunt...but both leupolds are gone now.

I've got at least a couple thousand inches of bucks whacked with Leupy scopes. Photobucket has me held hostage, but I've posted lots of them many times here before.

Good going with Imgur, JG.
That persistent, consistent "luck", sorta sets a trend, don't ya think...
Great trophy room and great trophies.

Killed this one.............and all I was trying to do was use it as intended. M1 Turret isn't much good if the tracking is off by several MOA.
Atleast they have a great warranty, eh?

Awesome pic SuperCub, just awesome.
No negatives from me on Leupold scopes. I guess I have 20 or so now and have owned and sold a similar number. Used them all across the USA, Canada and once in Africa. Had one handgun scope go bad on a 357 Maximum. It was fixed free and returned in about ten days. I’ll buy more of them.
Johnny, I'd shoot two of the three bucks on the fireplace.
At least a guy can't see any high........oh, never mind......
JG, nice to see that collection of horn again.
VX-3i, 4.5x14x40. CDS turret for my 7mm WSM load. Shot was 300ish. Turret set for 300, bullet hit where aimed. DRT.
When something needs to die, at any cost, this is the rifle and scope that gets broke out. It'll be with me in the Yukon next year for griz and mountain caribou.
This 3-9x40 lost zero on me in New Zealand....and found out the hard way on a 2nd tahr...

An oldie that I've probably posted way to many times but I'm still proud of the rifle/scope/and Cat

Yukon Territory in 2010. What a place that is!
Nice pics, I like Leupold
How about Leupolds that stay zeroed for not one, but two shots!
Maybe make a shot at a deer across the field 3 seconds after legal shooting hours start in the morning.
Or, just up and shoot one in the early afternoon.
Too many to post them all, so I'll just put up the last one...
Tuesday afternoon in Maine I watched my bro take a moose with his FX3 6x Leupold on a Rem 700 8 mm Remington Mag with a single 200 Nosler Partition at about 300 yards.
The guy at the check in station had never heard of the caliber.
Luck trumps skill any day jorge!
I don't have either!
I do not buy that!
It's likely that most of my kills have been with Leupold scopes, but my favorites are the VX-III/3 series 3.5-10x40 with the B&C reticle, and the VX-II/2 series 3-9x40 with the Long Range Duplex. When I hunt open areas, I dial them for max power and utilize the additional aiming points for 300 to 400yd shots (200yd +/- zero).
This black pig on the right was killed using the LRD at 300yds. Easy-peasy. 160NAB in a 7mmSAUM.
I just put this pic up just the other day, but the black pig on the left was killed at 410 using the B&C reticle. 7mm RM 160NAB. Impact was exactly where I held. Worked like a charm.
Nice Jim!! I'm also fond of the older Leupolds. between 4 and 6 power is all you need for most hunting.

Maybe in North Carolina...
About 50% of the photos showed Walnut stocks. Warms my heart. Love a good Walnut stock.
George
These pictures look photoshopped. Absolutely no way a Leupold will work on big game
Excellent!
There's a method someone recently shared that will allow you to steal your pictures back from that other outfit. There's a way apparently. Mighta been localdirt that posted it. Just a thought.
Good to see your bucks.

I moved on from Leupold on my bigger fur hunting rigs, kept many that have homes on varmint rifles, but I’ve said it before, Leupold is probably responsible for more shït dying through glass than most other mfg’s combined. 😎
Prairie Doggin'....... This looks like a good endorsement of Leupold.

Got these in spite of being handicapped with a junky old Leupold.
A few days ago..... it's hard to find trophy animals from the couch slummin a Leupy..... so this guy had to do.....
Wouldn’t mind hearing details on this hawg you shot...😎
Thanks brother.... I am rather comfortable in my mediocrity.....
Another Leupy couch victim....
That's a Leupold hat I'm wearing.

He tried to get me to carry a love seat up the mountain...He kept saying, “Well, it’s not a couch, so what’s the problem?” 🤷🏽♀️😎
Love seat..... hmmm very suspicious.....
Besides Kingston don't slum a Leupy.... he is too hi falutin for that....

You see those eyes? That was one dude who’d been hunting hard to get that bull....Couch, Love Seat, LZ Boy recliner, we all would have dove on one afterwards. Grins 😎
Love the camo Kingston......
I say the hat counts for something.

Looks like a fairly typical Pa Mountain Buck. I just hope the Mountain Laurel stayed that thin on the drag out.
T_Inman,
That pic of the cow elk is exceptional..... well most all your pic's are very good. Thanks for sharing
Ha I wish:
Thanks Beav that was an epic season for me; amazing memories with some great friends. Pretty awesome trophies & loads of venison to remember it all by.
The antlers on that Pa buck had a lot of character but the SD buck’s were almost PERFECTLY symmetrical and his body was enormous.
Leave a week from today for South Dakota to hunt the Black Hills but all the glass this year is Burris...
After all your kind and objective comments, did Dane or Nick send you the hat?
I actually bought the hat. It was a sort of peace offering—realizing I was hunting in Leupold country w/o a Leupold. I figured if I wore that Leupold had the locals would tolerate four feet of carbon fiber with a giant Kahles bolted to it. I was there 10 days and not one comment on the hat...

A bunch of other optics companies have sent me hats though.

No wood stocks but sort of old school:) Hard to tell but it is a Leupold on that KS.
Every rifle I've killed a big game animal with had a Leupold on it.
nasty looking hogs you got there dingo
some very nice pictures ! thanks to all for posting pictures ! >>Leupold is still gettin the job done !
Get a call yesterday from a pard. Checking zero on dad's rifle. Its off 5" to the RIGHT and 3" HIGH, though it did shoot a 1" group at that location. (I think to myself, how the hell was it off that much). I adjusted 20 clicks left and 12 down. Now its grouping 6" LEFT and 5" LOW.
Leupold, I asked.
Yes, VX III, what should we do?
Throw it in the trash and buy a NF (which is literally what I would do).
When I was scrolling down and saw the top edge of your photo I thought you had popped a dog. Ha Ha
There’s not enough pages to let me hang pics....
Me too brother. You know I'm not easy on a scope and Leup failed me for the last time. What did Greg say the "L" on your rifle case stands for?

>just send me the old icky Leupold scope and your address and i will send you the shipping charges back to you and a extra $20.00
Would if I could. But the junky CDS doesn't return to zero worth a flip and has caused a couple of misses with loopy trajectory 300/221 sub sonics. Verified on paper that it won't work right.
So Super Sniper in the mail and L will come off and go back to factory when I get back to Texas. Plus I can send in the 4-12 that won't adjust anymore and the 2.5-8 that won't focus anymore either.
That said I've sent in 2 of my Zeiss over the year also so it really doesn't matter. Long as they will stand behind product and product works correctly at some point.
RE CT Smith, they do that. The simple way with scopes like that is I just shoot a group, zero to the holes on paper while looking through the scope in a bench vise. Much easier and I always go past the holes a fair amount. Then come back to them. Then thump the scope and also bounce the rifle butt on the ground a few times to somewhat simulate recoil. Once set its usually good.
Dont' have those issues with my Zeiss though
Al, what rifle and cartridge?

Went through my hunting notes and found I've taken about a quarter of my big game animals with Leupolds. They have included 23 species, ranging in size from pronghorns and springbok to Cape buffalo and Alaskan moose. Here are a couple examples:

Gold medal stag. Win M70,a worthless BACO in totally useless caliber 30-06 Spr. Scope is a Leupold VX-3 1.5x5x20 w/ #4 reticle. About 100 meters. As dark as it was in that forest that morning, I had no trouble placing my shot, even with these old 69 year old (at the time) eyes. One shot with a S&B 180 Nosler Partition factory load, straight on in the chest and he dropped like a sack of potatoes. Bullet was recovered in the right ham. RJ

Theres just soooooo much wrong here!
BACO Model 70...seriously? Probably " Assembled in Portugal" where Browning has been assembling their junk for decades...
.30-06....do they still make ammo for those things? I thought 6.5 Creeds were using up all the raw materials....
Oh..I see they do...you used FACTORY AMMO? What is that? Ive never used it. And a Partition is SOOOO yesterday!
Lastly...you should know a Leupy 1.5x 5 isn't going to work in low light conditions...
If you'll step up your game and modernize, you might kill a good stag one day!
Congrats on that one though!
Wouldn’t mind hearing details on this hawg you shot...😎
I’m an outfitter/guide that buck was shot in 2017 with a Leupold VX-6 2-12x42. It ended up netting just under 173”. It’s moose season here right now, my first 2 clients from PA are tagged out. They arrived on the 30th, season opened on the 1st, first bull shot on the 2nd and the 2nd bull was shot yesterday on the 3rd. Both were shot with swarovski’s so I won’t post the pics here.

I fancy that 99. What caliber might that be?
I was driving on an icy road last year. Slipped on the ice and ran my truck right into a tree. Dang thing wouldn't run after that, so I had to have it towed. Went home and sold every truck I had. Wish I'd checked around enough to know that tree woulda killed any truck before I did that.
