How are these in quality? Tracking? Warranty?
I've never even seen one, let alone looked through one. Only seen them on Camera Land's website. The ones that are interesting me at the moment are the MeoPro.
I haven'tput mine through its paces yet. The clarity is very good. I would by another. Mine has lifetime warranty. Never used the customer service.
Have a Meopro on a Tikka 300 win Superlite. Has held up very well. Quickly became my favorite scope, Have never needed customer service on a scope, Have used it with binos and would say customer service is top notch!!
Either of you have a leupold vx3 to compare them to?
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with a Meopro if comparing to a vx3. I have used both.
Either of you have a leupold vx3 to compare them to?
The 1.5-6x42 Meopta Artemis is way better that the VX3 I have and a couple I have had in the past. Better in low light, better clarity holds zero and is dead on repeatable.
To my eyes, Meopta is noticeably brighter
The quality you get for your $ is impressive with Meopta optic's. I have been doing some freelance work with them for 9 months and I am impressed with the products. To my eyes, definitely better clarity than the VX3 and less expensive. If you want a scope loaded with features check out the Optika6 line. 30mm tube, awesome light transmission, great clarity and built tough. I used the 3-18 this past deer seaosn and had notihng but 1 shot stops. I loaned the rifle to a new hunter and he went 2 for 2 as well. Meopta has a new for 2020 Optika5 coming out that will be 5X zoom and have a 1 inch tube. The price will be less than the 6's as well. If you really want to be impressed check out the MeoStar line of bino's.Here's my Optika6 3-18 FFP
As I write this I am sitting in a deer hunting camp in Sonora with an old friend who is using a M 70 300 WM with a 6x42 Meopta that he has used all over the globe for the past 20 years and the zero has never changed and the optics still impressively bright and clear

Enjoy the sunshine!!!
Pointer, That is what it is all about! Here's my 6x42 on my Browning Belgium BLR .308 that has taken to many deer to count. Still as accurate as I can shoot. Some things are ment to be!
Mr bman, hope your early 2020 has been going well. Can you confirm for us if the new dual hinge Meopro is in fact Meostar Hd optics please? Thanks, if they are that makes them very appealing, at least to me.
I have a VX-3 1.75x6x32 and a MeoPro 3.5-10x44. Though I’m happy with the VX-3 the MeoPro has better glass to my eyes.
They are JG and thank you for the kind words. They are exceptional! I'll have a pair to use outside soon enough and pass on my thoughts. Enjoy 2020, it's gonna be quite a ride!
I also prefer the optics of my Meopta Mepro's to the VX3. No issues with mine.
Beat by Meopta and don’t track for [bleep] typically ......hmmmmmm
Great to hear a couple of good reports about the 6x42. I just bought one a couple of weeks ago. It seems nice and bright and clear in the middle of the day but I haven't looked at it in low light or compared it to a VX3 or Z3. I bought it to go on a 6.5x57 that I'm in the thinking stage of building but I think I will have to put it on a rifle in the meantime. It seems too nice a scope to leave sitting in the box.
Bought my 1st Ever used..... Meopta/Meopro 4.5x14x44 Target with MChorter ret in 1inch tube from a24hour campfire member it's been Fantastic ,also bought a New Meopta Optika 6 sfp 3x18x50 /30mm tube with the BDC Dichro tech ret, it's Stellar, everything just PoP's looking through it with my 63 yr young eyes ,yes I'd buy again !.
So I’ve got a vx3 2.5-8x36, a 3-9x40 Conquest (pre-Hd and pre-terra model. I’m told it’s made by meopta) and a 4.5-14x44 cabelas instinct all mounted right now. I shot a deer with the cabelas last fall.
Of the 3, I would rank them Conquest, VX3, Cabelas Instinct. My main complaint on the Cabela’s Meopta is the eye relief and the thick dark ring around the FOV. It’s bad enough I’m considering selling. The glass is very good and bright. Brighter than the VX3 for sure. I love the VX3 for the lightweight and very good eye relief with no tunnel vision at all. I like the Conquest the best as I think it is the brightest, clearest, and also has great eye relief.
I apologize if this isn’t apples to apples, but my understanding was the Cabela’s and the Conquest are both basically the same as the Meopta.
Parts are made by Meopta but they are not the same. It wouldn't make sense to make an exact Meopta scope and put another label on it, Meopta continues to have their unique glass and glass coatings that seperate their scopes from other scopes.
No more info on the Optika5 scopes that I can find. Itching to make that the VX3 of my rifles - a scope that looks good, does it all, and is backed by a great warranty.
love mine,.... on all my main rifles
This may help, or not...

Retail Pricing: From $349.99 - $549.99
What do the Optika5 weigh?
I don't have any idea but I would guess them to be similar in weight to the MeoPro line of rifle scopes. 15.9 oz for 3-9, 4.5-14x44 18 oz, these are just guesses until I get firm information.
Great scopes, now up to 4 now, if you count a Zeiss Conquest which was made by Meopta. Two new Opticka 6 scopes with the Dicroic BDC reticle. First range trip today, very clear and bright, tracking and adjustments were perfect. Only time will really tell however. Have not really seen any others that match them for the money. Only complaint, is that the Opticka 6 line is a bit porky at 27 ounces.
Really looking forward to the 5 line. Put a Optika 6 3-18x56 on my 257wby and love it so far.
I have 5 or 6 MeoPros on mine and love them.
I’m a big fan of meopta.
Several scopes amd the cabelas badged euro binos.
Want to try out the optika6. Reports seem to good on those.
One just was added in the classifieds. IMO for $280, that’s where it’s at.
Meopta has been working with Kenton to produce Custom Turrets for some of their scopes. At this time I am not sure which ones. I do prefer to not be locked into a cal specific turret even though I have ones for a .243,257 wbymag and a .308.
Thanks for the great comments guys. Meopta really moving in the right direction to make scopes that you guys want, more to come!
This is a rare consensus optics thread. I probably just jinxed it.
LMAO, I thought the same thing but I was afraid to say anything. It's nice working for a company that makes quality products that sell themselves. Hopefully one day they will be available so that more folks can look at them before they buy. My buddy who has Swaro. bino now owns 10 and 10X bino's and will sell the swaro's in a heartbeat. The same for a guy I know in NY who always wanted a Swaro. spotter then looked down the tube of the MeoStar S2 and bought it. He'll sell the Sawro too. Quality always sells.
My MeoStar 10x42's.
Thanks for a great thread guys. I just found my next scope for my .222 after reading all the info posted. Can't beat the 24 for experience and details.

bman940:
I bought one of the 3-9x40 Cabelas Instinct scopes.
It clearly has Meopta's name on the scope, and made in the Czech Republic.
Before buying, I called Meopta USA and asked the difference between the Meopta Meopro and the Instinct.
I was told that they are the same basic parts including glass and erector systems, and the quality and tracking would be identical, with small cosmetic differences on the exterior.
Just got an email about all MeoPro scopes being 25% off at Sport Optics. Must be phasing them out? Tempted to snag one.

I'm not sure what you mean by "thick dark ring around the FOV" as the only time I've experienced a dark ring around the scope, it had nothing to do with the scope and was due to incorrect eye placement. I get the impression you're saying there's something else going on. I own the exact same scope, and 3 other Meopro/Intinct, and they are all flawless. I was able to do a side-by-each of the Meopro and Cabela's scope, and they are identical. Whether these are the same as the older Conquest is debatable, but that is a different discussion. The Instict 3x9 was identical to a eurooptics version of the 3x9 Conquest I had a few years ago.
If the OP is interested in how they optically compare to the VX3, as mentioned earlier the Meopro is superior to the VX3 optically. The VX3 will be a touch lighter, and depending on the model will have a more forgiving eye box. I prefer the ergonomics of the Meopro.
Had a 6x42 Artemis (bought another for Dad) and a Leupold M8. All had great #4 reticles. Optically the M8 and Artemis were identical to me. In brightness, if really stressed, the Meopta may have had a slight edge. I later bought a vx3 3-10x40 and compared it to the M8 in fading day and found better contrast but absolutely shocked to find it brighter than the M8. Thought I would chime in with these comp's as others have used same.
The one area I find the Meopta's really superior are in the adjustments. Firm, repeatable clicks and excellent tracking. The Leupold works but it isn't the confidence inspiring mechanism the Meopta's have. Heavier than the Leupold but I find that nit is often overblown. In short- buy a Meopta and love it. I would again but have found some Burris deals that have gotten 'me' Vx3 level for a whole lot less. (Yes, Meopta's have better adjustments than the Burris too)
I expect to be flamed but am telling you what I have seen with my own eyes and tests. Won't be many here who used an Artemis longer than I did. I have read on this forums where some(one) found the Artemis to be a cut above the Meopro? Hard to believe but.....throwing it all out there for your consumption TZone.
Where are the Meoptas sent for warranty/repair work??

Always call Doug before buying new from someone else, they are great to deal with. I called before and told him about a sale and he beat the sale price.

Yep. Their original prices are inflated a bunch . Doug’s been offering the Meopro 6x with no. 4 for $ 399 shipped. (Ripped outer box)

They have the 3-9x40 with the #4 for $374. Do you guys have that or a leftover 42mm for a comparable price
We sold out of all those, however, let me look into what we can grab some for

Well...it was your website that led me to the question to start with.

Listed price is just asking price...... they'll for sure make a deal just like camerland.
Definitely not being phased out. In fact, Meopta is stronger than ever with last year's Optika6 launch, and this year Optika5 coming out in the next 60 days. The Optika5 will have the same great glass as the Optika6 but in a 1-inch tube and is geared more towards hunters. Prices should come in between $349-$549.
bman940, what are you hearing on arrival of the Meopro Air binocs?

I am a big fan of Meopta. I've got Meopta binos and scopes, and am very pleased with the optical quality, and overall fit, finish, and function of the products.
4x-20x is just about the ideal power range for a hunting scope (where I use the high end for load development). And, I like the trimmer 1" tube over a 30mm tube on a hunting rifle. That price range is very attractive, too.
I'll be giving the new Optika5 scopes a very close look when they hit the street.
Thank you, Shin, your support is much appreciated. The Optika6 3-18x50 has been a great selling optic. The Optika5 should do well for just the reasons you stated. My .308 Win and .300 Win will wear one next hunting season.

In this article,
https://optics-info.com/new-at-iwa-2020-meopta-meopro-optika-5-riflescopes/ it says that the Optica 5 series will replace the Meopro series. I do not know if that will be a good thing or not. I may be tempted to try a 2x10x42 as long as they are not heavier than the Meopros. They should not be. This article says the scope tubes are made of magnesium, which 34 percent lighter than aluminum. If I remember correctly, the price is to run from $349 to $549. I'm anxious to get more details/specs on these scopes. RJ
bman940, what are you hearing on arrival of the Meopro Air binocs?
The last I heard on the MeoPro Air bino's was August. I was just informed that they are in the final testing stage. These should be a hit with the great ergonomics and MeoStar glass.

My understanding is that the Optika5 is an entry level product priced from $349.99 - $549.99.
Now, I am not a rocket scientist by any stretch of the imagination, however, I have been doing this job for decades.
IMO, a 5x scope priced $349.99 - $549.99 will not be superior to a 3x scope priced $$499.99 - $949.99.
Meopta may phase out the Meopro at some point, however (again IMO) the Optika5 and Optika6 are not superior scopes to the Meopro.
I have a meopro 3-9x50 on one rifle and a vx-3i 4.5-14x50 on another and looking thru the meopro the view is noticeably more bright and sharp in my opinion
Yea Doug, so I suppose the guy that wrote the article in the link that I referenced, did not have his facts correct. Still there may be some hunters that can't afford (not me) or just don't want to spend the extra on the Meopro. Myself, I'm just happy to see a good manufacturer coming out with a new line of 1" hunting scopes as opposed to the heavy fat assed tacticool stuff we see so much of today. As I said, I am curious to see what the Optica 5 ' 2x10x42 will offer. If I like it, I'll buy it. RJ
I just received a 4.5-14X44 meopro with BDC reticle for a .22LR. from CL earlier this week. Ripped box special. $449
I am super impressed with this scope. Crystal clear optics. tracks perfect.
Thanks Doug for such a great deal.
