What is you recommendation for good glass for a 22 for under $250. Looking to upgrade the old tasco that’s on my squirrel rifle. Not afraid to change the parallax, if that can be done on the objective end. What say you?
My favorite .22 wears a Sightron SII 3-9x42 duplex.Normally can find one for around $125...
You can get a Leupold 4x28 Rimfire scope for $199. Leupold is taking a lot of bashing around here, but that scope should be fine on a .22.
I like the ss 6x. I don't use the Christmas tree reticle at all, but the inverted German 4 is great in the top of trees and very easy to see. I like the dot in the center of the reticle for head shots and it's an adjustable parallax.
The Leupold FXII 6X36 is perfect for me. Readjust the parallax to the liking and soldier on.
Midway has the 2-7x, 32mm Vortex Crossfire scope for rimfires for 129.99. Put one on my .22lr, CZ-455 squirrel gun three years ago. Nice little unit but no parallax adjustment, which I rarely use anyway. I probably would have splurged on a Leupold when I bought this but I got it locally and they let me take it outside and look at stuff in real world conditions and I wound up buying it right then. 2-7x magnification works well for me on a .22 but lots of folks prefer more "x"'s. A straight 4x on another .22 even works well for me also.

This is what I put on my little grouse .22, super light. You can hunt around and get one for less than $180.

Nikon Prostaff Rimfire - they can be found new for $100 - $130. I had one on my CZ 452 and was very impressed, very good optics, great clarity, tracking was excellent, parallax is set for 60 yds. A best buy IMO.

I don't think you should go low on a scope for your 22 RF there fore I'd suggest a 6-24x Nightforce for it. Or you could do what I did. Only have one 22 with a scope. Marlin 783 22 win mag. Found a used straight 4x Weaver and put it on there. But sometimes when hunting ant's at 75yds I wish I had the 6-24x scope! :-) OK, I think most people use way more scope than they need and the reason for it sounds like a script written just for justifying high power, high dollar scope's.

😃 Yep, how far are you going to shoot a squirrel with a .22? A 4X will make a squirrel at 50 yards appear to be 12-1/2 yards away.

That scope (new version) is pretty short in length.
I think it looks too short
Sold mine (was on Ruger 10/22 International).
Looks better w a 4X compact
I shoot most of my squirrels within 50 yards and offhand, so 4X works quite well.
My compact is sitting on a 10/22 fingergroove now.
My CZ455 has a 2-7X VX1. Not parallax adjusted, so can't go above 6X at 50 yards.
Yup, I leave it at 4X most of the time.
I should have kept my old 3-9X EFR.
Got the new Freedom EFR, it was ugly. Away it went.
Just not into tacticool looking scopes.
The old rounded turret housing and bell eyeiece stuff has classic looks and doesn't detract from nicer rifles.
