Since Doug is practically giving these big scopes away at $200 minus a penny I decided to buy one just to play with. It is a big and bulky scope at almost 22 inches long. It's fairly light for its size and it wouldn't be a first choice to be carrying around a lot but it is a nice scope. I was watching some people climbing a nearby mountain--about 3 miles away-- and it was easy to tell the colors of their clothes. I wouldn't be able to identify the individuals but it was a pretty good indicator to me that the scope was better than I expected and worth more than its price. I'm not going to test it by dropping it and such. That may happen accidentally anyway.
Worth a look if you have an interest and it should work fine at the range.

I'm looking for a new spotter and would love to see a comparison between the Konus 20-60x100, Athlon Ares 15-45x60 and Bushnell T-Series 15-45-60. I'd really like a mil-spotter but am not sure about the Bushnell quality so if I just go with a regular spotter, is there any reason to spend the extra $$ for one I'm going to use at the range 95% of the time (up to 600 yards)?

I have one that i leave set up in my living room. I see elk pretty often 4-6 miles off. For what it cost, i really enjoy it. Looking through the window or glass door doesnt seem to affect it much.

I did take it out and looked at the same area I mentioned but on a clearer day and it was better, of course. I still wouldn't be able to identify someone from facial features but probably could say "the tall slender guy wearing a red jacket or shirt and black pants" or something like that. Certainly it's not a Leica or similar but it serves my needs/wants.
