This is not a backhanded offer to sell.

What would you put this on and why? Been on my shelf forever.

About 17-18oz, A4 reticle. Not sure the subtension but the inner wires are closer to 2cm thick than 1cm @100m. A little coarse for varmints. A little weighty for the mountains but not bad. Woulda been a helluva deer stand scope back east or pig rifle scope. Too nice for truck gun scope, but....

What would you use it for by you?

Just about any medium weight Big Game rifle. A Black Timber Elk rifle comes to mind. Some would put it on a light weight and take the trade off. for better glass.
Since you already have the scope - any chance of sending it in to install a new reticle that would work better for your hunting style?

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Right. A decent syn stocked medium bore, light in the buttstock, backup big game rifle. An ‘06 tikka lite or something (... else i don’t need....).

Still fishing for ideas.
No suggestions, just an observation; That's really nice scope!
One of my favorite scope/reticle combos. A couple of years ago I had S&B add an elevation dial to mine. I'd check to see if they still do that...even though it's expensive nad limited adjustment...and then put it on a lightweight .308 I have sitting. Main use would be low light deer but with the dial it's good all around.

It is a thick reticle and makes it a little tougher to shoot tiny groups but it's really hard to beat in low light.

I'd lay bare my utter lack of couth, and perch it atop a bespoke Remington 770, possibly in some < $10, blister pack, single-screw scope rings.

Hey... you asked... grin

Send it to Kingston, STAT!
I’ll put it on my Manners Ultra Classic stocked first gen 700Ti that’s chambered in 308.
Allegheny deer rifle!
I would seriously sell it if I couldn't use it. The fact you're not thinking of replacing a scope you already use seems to be an answer to yourself. If you buy a rifle you don't need just to create a use for a scope you don't want, then your not heading for happiness.

I'd use it before selling it. Try it first and if you don't like it sell it then. You may actually find it fits perfectly on one of your rifles. I like fixed power scopes on old classic rounds like 7x57, 7x64, 9.x62 etc.

Up to you but it's too nice a scope to sell without at least trying it first.

This would fit perfectly on my Winchester 70 Classic in 270. I use it for deer and hog hunting and I like fixed power scopes.

With a German #4 or a pointed post sight I have shot tiny groups on paper. They are not ideal for hold over if much Kentucky windage is involved but will do for medium ranges.

Used a 6x42 FX III #4 on a Ruger #1 6.5x55......dumped a buck at 275 yds one evening. Gun and scope since been traded. It was good for anything like that hunt, or closer for me. A quality scope up to 10-14x can give you more range potentially...

Agree with above post, shot a small group with mine at 200 yds, 1/2 MOA....once you start getting past say 300 yds....odds are there are better tools for the job.
