If you hunt in Texas you can get by without thermal. I say get by, because If I could afford it I would prefer thermal. But here baiting is legal, especially hogs because they aren’t game and are considered pests and unlike some anal retentive states, they are legal to hunt at night. Only deer and anything considered game are illegal to shoot at night. I say all that because I don’t know the laws in other states. That’s just what it is here.
What I had on my last lease were some LED Green Lights with solar batteries directed under my feeder. They stayed charged all year and when the sun went down they came on. Hogs and deer would come to the feeder and at night were easy picking to kill. I would park my suburban in a tree mott about 100 yards away using the Suburban as my blind and ambush ‘em. I did get a lot of sleep in that Suburban, LOL!
