Apparently Winchester changed the way scope mounts were attached to the Big Bore after I got mine. I bought mine in 86. I am in need of some mounts to fit it. Does any one have a n idea of where I can find mounts to fit one of that era?
Numerich has it

Numerich has what you need.

That look like it will work. Thank you. Thank you.
Here are the dimensions on the mount ou are looking for.

There was a thread in the optics forum “is there room for the straight 4x” which works fine on the Big bore rifles. I prefer the look of the straight tube 20mm but the little Burris Short Mag works fine.

Don’t overlook the forward mount scope if you are shooting at moving game at reasonably short range. This Burris mount on the .30-30 Trapper is a good walking around rifle.

I had one of the first run BB94s. .307
Never could find a base for the damn thing.

Pretty surprised some bases showed up for one.
I had it scoped before, but can't find those mounts anymore. I think I still have them, but they are put away somewhere while our basement is getting done. This BB also has the monte carlo stock. I did have a Williams peep site on it, but my eyes can use the help of a scope these days. My M64 still has a Lyman peep on it and with time against a white target I can shoot it well, but I used the .356 in the dark timber so want the help of the scope.

I did order this, but since they are in NY they are closed down for now. I hope they open soon.
Its a shame you didn't have a later rifle. CDNN has the forward base on sale.
Yeah, if I had a later one the LGS had the right bases. I didn't know they changed so initially bought the ones they had. Numerich must not be on their list because the guy couldn't find anything that would fit.
This is a poor picture of my Winchester .444 Marlin Timber Carbine. The Weaver K-2 is a good scope for this rifle and the Lee 5 minute Dot works well for close in shots at game in motion.
The poor picture at least illustrates the Millett Angle Loc rings. I understand they have discontinued these rings which is a shame. The Winchester Angle eject rifles are drilled slightly of the center line to favor a right hand shooter. For the left hand shooter the Angle Loc rings allowed you to get the rifle bore sighted without cranking your scope adjustment out to its limits. The older scopes do not have quite the range of adjustment as the newer models.
We used to see posts on some boards with new owners having trouble zeroing the Angle Eject Winchesters. With some scopes the Redfield type mounts could be a problem.
I have never seen the Angle Loc rings have a problem with recoil. They were a fine set of rings.
