“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” – Second Amendment

The founders were making two distinct and separate points in the Second Amendment of which neither was to be “infringed” upon.

POINT 1 - A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, shall not be infringed.

POINT 2 - The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Those two separate and distinct God given rights is exactly what the founders were stating.

The people are the Militia, and there right to form said Militia shall not be infringed.

The people’s right to bear arms shall not be infringed.

End of story.

Bump for a clandestine militia
I know they intended to protect the right of the citizenry to keep and bear arms including firearms, but I wish to hell they had left that militia reference out or put it in a separate amendment.
And the word "regulated" does NOT mean laws to keep the militia in control. The word "regulated" in the context of the Second Amendment means equipped.
Don't think for a minute that we don't live in a "police state" and we are
just the sheeple

Actually, a wind up clock is "regulated " .it means in good working order.

"The meaning of the phrase "well-regulated" in the 2nd amendment

From: Brian T. Halonen <[email protected]>

The following are taken from the Oxford English Dictionary, and bracket in time the writing of the 2nd amendment:

1709: "If a liberal Education has formed in us well-regulated Appetites and worthy Inclinations."

1714: "The practice of all well-regulated courts of justice in the world."

1812: "The equation of time ... is the adjustment of the difference of time as shown by a well-regulated clock and a true sun dial."

1848: "A remissness for which I am sure every well-regulated person will blame the Mayor."

1862: "It appeared to her well-regulated mind, like a clandestine proceeding."

1894: "The newspaper, a never wanting adjunct to every well-regulated American embryo city."

The phrase "well-regulated" was in common use long before 1789, and remained so for a century thereafter. It referred to the property of something being in proper working order. Something that was well-regulated was calibrated correctly, functioning as expected. Establishing government oversight of the people's arms was not only not the intent in using the phrase in the 2nd amendment, it was precisely to render the government powerless to do so that the founders wrote it."

Equipment helps, but training and discipline are key. It is the will to fight, the knowledge how, and the determination to follow through.
yawn..... after they impeach and convict Trump, THEY will decide what the Founders intended and you won' t be pleased BUT as in England and Canada 95% will rollover and those who don't will be locked up or killed.
Yawn dream on! You Progressive Fascists can't impeach. That you want to impeach without cause proves that your fascists.

No the Founders weren't making 2 separate points they were making 3 interdependent ones. You correctly covered 1 & 2 above. 3 is that the govt is not to have standing forces IE it should be disarmed. Consider the points I made in this presentation:

This gentleman appears to be well read and well spoken.
Interesting how our opponents put the cart before the horse.

How might we private citizens form militias if we are not armed with rifles and ammo of our own? If a governor calls for the militia, but nobody is allowed to be armed, well, that's a bit more like a Wednesday night revival meeting. And if a governor calls the militia, then arms them with weapons from the state's armory, wouldn't that make the militia more of a regular military?

Arms in the hands of private citizens is a prerequisite for there being any such thing as a militia.
It seems that the younger generation forgot or was never taught why we went to war and broke away from English rule in the 1st place.
The part I keep thinking about recently, and perhaps the most important, "being necessary for the security of a FREE state". The second amendment is not about hunting, self defense, or sporting purposes. Its right there in black and white. Guns are our last chance, after voting and diplomacy have failed.
The second amendment is meaningless. It’s not about rifles. It’s about arms. As in, for war. And the federal government owns stealth bombers and the people are (sometimes) allowed 10 rounds in their 9mm magazines. The left has been able to change the meaning of the 2nd amendment in most people’s minds to cover hunting and self protection. Look at the 10th amendment. It’s totally ignored. Ignored by the court, the legislature, the people. A revolution is coming. I’m just not sure what it will look like.
2021 is likely to be more challenging than 2020. Jefferson and T. Paine knew the dangers facing the republic
under a large government. Particularly under God-less leadership.
