For moose, goat, and sheep. The period is open for a month starting today.
What limits the applicants severely is a rule that if you apply for a moose, goat, or sheep tag, you can't apply for elk or deer the same year. Since many of these hunts have a 5% or lower drawing odds, you have to forgo a high percentage elk draw for really lousy odds on something else. I know an area where goats are pretty easy to get but the drawing odds are only 5%.
I am in for Cali Bighorn, like usual. 26 years now? I can't remember.

A guy can still apply for the unlimited deer and elk tags, but not the capped ones until the 2nd draw anyhow.
The 5 day limitation on capped tags only applies to whose who applied for elk, not for other species, unless they've changed it this year but the new regs aren't out yet to check.
I wasn't referring to the capped general tags with the 5 day deal. By "capped" I was referring to the limited draw tags.

A guy can apply for sheep, and also the unlimited (and I believe the extra) draws for deer, elk and antelope.
One of these years Idaho will give me some love.. 20 plus’s years, deer, elk, and antelope. Not 1 tag...

I feel your pain Jud. I've drawn ONE tag in 30+ years in Idaho...and I live here.

Having said that, I wouldn't change the draw methods even a little bit.

The best thing about Idaho is getting to hunt in Montana! Not too far to drive!

Agreed on the draw methods. Fairest system possible.

I need to get back into the draw game in ID. Don't think I've applied since 2015 when I drew deer and elk. The license fee is kinda steep to just apply, but no worse than many states with points, which are becoming about worthless in most all states.

10 years ago we switched from bull elk to cows. We've been drawing about 4 out of 5 years. There are some late cow hunts south of the Snake that never fill. The last few years they've been easy hunts but in a wet winter, you'd better be careful out there or you might be there until it freezes over.
Antelope is a tough draw in Idaho, maybe 1 in 25. I've drawn only twice in the last 40 years, the last time about 5 years ago.
Jumping in the Idaho sheep draw for the first time this year as a nonresident, a seriously hefty price tag and app fee but its not ever going to get any cheaper, and Colorado wont give me one so far so may as well try. I think Idaho has a pretty cool system, beats the point creep system Colorado has in place in some ways.
Stopped in CDA last week and dropped 3k on a license, bear and bait tags, and a mountain goat application. I hope they keep every penny.
