I know most of you guys are DIY hunters but can anyone suggest a full service outfitter for the 2022 season? I am looking for my first and probably last Elk hunt so I dont mind going all out for this one. My 70th birthday is not too far in the future (I hope)! Upper tier ranches get booked fast!

Found an opening in North Central NM begining Oct 15 but I really want to hunt the rut to get the full experience. Would rather go end of Sept or 1st week of Oct.

Posted this in the elk hunting forum with little response so I trying here too.
Those dates would be archery or muzzle loader only unless you hunted on the reservation or exclusively private property. For your dates I would look at the Jicarilla reservation or vermejo park ranch for a full service hunt with top tier accommodations

Near Vermejo is the UU Bar.
Thanks guys.
Mescalero’s quality slumped several years ago, but seems to be back up in recent years. Might be worth looking into...
Here is another outfitter you might try.

Contact John Jaquez, of San Juan River Outfitters. First-class outfitter, with great areas for elk and deer.
Jim Welles JFW Ranch Consulting and Hunt Nation to start with. Would also look at Cabela’s WTA and Huntin Fool reps some outfitted hunts. I know of an outfitter but he is always 1-2 yrs booked out. Good luck
I agree with calling Jim Wells. I've hunted with his outfit a couple times and my grandson is hunting with him this year on a youth hunt.
If this is a once in a lifetime.
I would choose Mescalero. I am pretty familiar with that area, but never hunted the Res.
But, there are a crap load of outfitters that hunt their boundary
Absolutely beautiful scenery, Great rooms at the Inn.Pamper yourself a bit, a bit of gambling, good food etc.
'Easy hunting, and there are some great bulls in there.
It would be a no headaches, and guaranteed good, to great bull.
There big boy numbers are down, but they are there..
A 350 bull would be at their low end in my opinion.
High end 380 or so.
Anyone know of a good outfitter operating in the Gila wilderness area with good success?
I've hunted elk at The Lodge at Chama at least 17 years. Outstanding lodge, wonderful food, great guides, and have another hunt booked there for later this year. It's a bit pricey, but you'll kill a nice bull. No experience with other outfitters in the Chama area.
