What rifle case do you like for airline travel? I guess wheels are a given, but what do you use?

I looked at a SKB that held 2 rifles, one on top of the other with a thick layer of foam separating them instead of the usual sxs configuration. I liked that and always had good service from SKB cases.

Opinions?

Do you always bring a back-up rifle?

Tuffpak.

I have used Grizzly Gun Cases----I like them. I've used them twice to South Africa & twice to AK. Scope was still on all 4 time times I've heard good things about Pelican Gun Cases also.

I have a couple pelican cases. They are top shelf. Never a problem when traveling.

I have the SKB double rifle case and it's been great over the past 10 or so years. Lots of flights, lots of being tossed in a truck bed for long drives off road and it's never had an issue. Heavy, but strong.

I have SKB cases that are side by side and one that has a layer of foam separating the stacked guns.

In the end the side by side model takes up less space in the vehicle so I use that one more.

The stacked model is a very long case and once had to return to the rental counter because the case did not fit...problem was what the rental agency called a full size vehicle I call a compact...

I've been using a hard golf club carrier for the last 10 or 12 years. Put in guns, pack clothes, sleeping bags around them and wheel away. Can stick a 2 piece rod in it as well.

Pelican.

SKB or pelican.

Pelican 1750

Tuffpak. I have a couple of thin gun sleeves (Red Oxx?) that I use inside and they are used when in a vehicle or whatever. Most of the hunting clothes also go inside.

Thank you all!

Well, Grabagun has the 50" SKB Tuffpak clone for $218.00. That is $100 or more, less than I have seen them advertised. They are in stock so I just ordered one.

The Pelican 1750 is hard to beat!!!

My flying with both rifles and shotguns has been done with a Pelican case. I have no horror stories to tell.

How does that work if TSA wants to pull the rifle out and inspect it to make sure it's unloaded?

Another vote for the double SKB case here. To fit two rifles I've found that it helps if you remove the bolts from a bolt action rifle.

Same as a gun case, just with clothes instead of foam.

From what I saw and read, you put the rifle in a soft case and slip it in the top loading hard case. Tuffpak makes a duffle that unzips horizontally and fits in the case. Load the duffle and drop it in the hard case. Thinking the duffle should fit the top load SKB case too. Don't know if SKB makes one?

You trust TSA to pack it back the same way you had it arranged?

I have two travel cases from Impact Case, a single and a double version. Both of these cases have carried my firearms all over the world, with no damage whatsoever to my guns. The double case has wheels, and both cases use either a single or two rods to go thru the holes in the latches to securely lock the case. Good, high quality cases, if you prefer aluminum over polymer.

I cancelled my order for the SKB Tuffpack clone and bought the SKB double rifle case that stacks the rifles. Very pleased with it!

I put two rifles in it that both have McM Gamescout stocks, 26" barrels and big scopes. They fit great. I pointed the muzzles in different directions when bunking them. No problem closing the lid.

It has integrated locks in addition to slots for padlocks.

Very heavy duty case with great wheels and a self folding handle.

I highly recommend it.

I have used Pelicans quite a bit, traveling for vacation as well as for work. Never an issue.
