everyone put your biggest or best up
my first archery buck 31 1/3 inch spread got him in his bed on a late archery hunt area 10 in nevada
How many arrows to anchor that X....grin
just one double lunged him he did not go 40 yards befor he was on his ear
What were you using for Bow, pull weight, arrow, broadhead, etc.
lol well i am not rich by any means so you know is is a pse compound bow 120gr muzz and the cheapest arrows i could get at gun world they were only shooting 174 fps slow i know but it is all i had and poor people got poor ways and they work o did i say that the bow is over 18 years old
nothing wrong with an old PSE, Mine is PSE 5050 Edge, don't know what year they were made or but I do know I can crank the limbs to over 90#
Broke her neck and punched through with a mechanical expanding wal mart broad head (after I learned a little more I went with Muzzies)
Another victim of the Swede. 194"
I killed him in 2007. I used a 140 gr Sierra SBT.

Nice, Someday I will get to hunt whitetail again.
My best muley
270 150gr partition
I'd let the air out of that one in a heart beat. Here is a pic of the next one on my to-do list.
Joseph
Still waiting to see that 31 1/3 in buck. All I see is a red x. Must be the scene of the crime?
here's my best mule deer. scored 171 6/8 P&Y.
he was taken in northern new mexico, unit 2a, in the late archery hunt in 1998.
pic was taken a long time ago, at the old place.
After hunting this buck for about a week straight, I finally connected last November. I've never hunted any one buck in particular like I did this one. I thought he was pretty good for 20 acres in the Hill Country.
I was more patient for him than any other, so that's kinda "best-like".
A few weeks later I went North and knocked this dude down. He netted 165 and is by far my biggest.

I hope it wasn't a spot where someone was cutting bait...getting ready to troll...
Ingwe
Does smell somewhat fishy
My best whitetail.....21 1/2" wide inside nets a measly 134 due to short tines and main beams.
My best bull elk.....6X7, 359 5/8"
Both were shot with a bow.
Heres what I was after last year....(that shed alone measures 83 3/8") seen him a few times early on but during and after the rut I never saw him again....Oh and he was much bigger too.
This year I have not found his sheds.
I plan on hunting him this year if hes still alive.
Nice stuff Tom,really nice elk! Really nice mount too....Ive shot a bunch of them...but never quite a 359! Congrats!
Ingwe
Thanks, sad part of it is is that is my first bull elk...he's an AZ bull too from the White mountains region.
I'll probably never top him since I cant seem to draw another tag in any state....
OK guys heres bell89815's wide deer and wiiiide it is.
Nice deer
Great looking mule deer, congrats
Not big compared to some of the ones you guys have gotten but its good for south alabama.
Nice bucks and bulls on here!
My biggest, and best in terms of Record Book status. A bonafide 8' Grizzly, skull is 24 8/16 which puts him over the minimum required for Boone and Crockett.
My biggest buck, he's a Mule Deer/ Blacktail cross. Mostly Blacktail though. Massive frame, 5" bases, 4" eye guards, but short tines. Scores 148.
My biggest Moose
And the hardest to find buck I've ever hunted. Deer were scarce, Wolves were plentiful, and I hunted harder for this guy than any animal I've ever taken. That makes him "One of the best" even though he's a small one.
Thanks, sad part of it is is that is my first bull elk...he's an AZ bull too from the White mountains region.
I'll probably never top him since I cant seem to draw another tag in any state....
Bad news for you Tom, you probably won't top him anytime, anywhere!
Hes a dandy!
Ingwe
As long as we are posting elk, heres one..with a skinnier, younger Ingwe!

Gotta love shooting bunnies with a BAR, and Moose with a 40-60 !
Ingwe
Great photos guys. Some darn nice animals taken. Here is mine. Took my 20 seasons to get this bull. Doubt I'll get one bigger either. Killed this guy opening day in 2007.
My best Whitetail, taken in 2008. 152 2/8 P&Y
And my best Muley buck, taken in 2001 211 P&Y
We need to have a columbian blacktail in this lineup, here's one that nets 145" and some change.........and it's from California!
Here is my biggest and only mule deer from Montana in 2004:
Here's the biggest animal I ever killed - Caribou from NWT in 2007:
I'd say you must be exerting an exceptional amount of effort to net those results.
Nice animals Salmonella!! Were they taken on guided hunts or on your own???
i am humbled by the adventures alot of you have had..
someday....
Nice animals Salmonella!! Were they taken on guided hunts or on your own???
Of those photos only the Brown bear was guided as by law.

That thing is unbelievable......
It took 11 years to draw the license and fifteen days to bag this guy.
My best mule deer, circa 1997.
2007 'bou
My son's first antelope, circa 1994.

Very awesome pics fellas. Congrats
My best
That thing is unbelievable......
Yep, between JGR and SKane's posts...those old feelings of severe inadequacy are creeping back in...
I wanna shoot deer like that when I grow up!
Ingwe
OK, I'm desperate, and its a slow morning....heres my best Waterbuck...
( and yes, I've shot more than one...I've shot two!!!)

http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv47/marcyancey65/IMG_0341.jpgI'm trying to figure out how to post my first picture. Help!!! I think I posted a link to a photo of a kudu I shot last year in Zimbabwe.
if you click "quote" on my post, you'll learn the UBB code it requires.
Best Whitey and Muley. Muley was shot with a 260, and the Whitey was shot with a 55 Lbs Martin Hunter and a 2114 with a Wensal Woodsman
Best goat (another 260 victim)
No bear yet... And all the Elk I've killed were cows
Like the European mounts Dan...

Blacktail and Blackbear.

I agree with Ingwe.....sweet mounts. Ingwe, what's that waterbuck weigh, or in other words how big are those things?
This is the biggest free range aoudad I've been part of (unfortunately I didn't shoot it). I helped guide this hunter on this 31" beast of a ram....

nice blacktail
did you do the bear colors for the ducks?
you need some compressed air in a can for some of that dust!
Like the European mounts Dan...
Ingwe
I agree with Ingwe.....sweet mounts. Ingwe, what's that waterbuck weigh, or in other words how big are those things?
JGR; Waterbuck are pretty rotund and compact, body wise, deducting the usual over guesstimation, I'd say about 600 lbs. on the hoof....and yeah, they smell just like Ruark described...
Ingwe
We need to have a columbian blacktail in this lineup, here's one that nets 145" and some change.........and it's from California!
Hey I know that guy.
Ugly dude and a dink deer...
Dats why I put junk on here like a Waterbuck...so RL wouldn't know if it was a "dink" or not...
Or would he?...
Ingwe
My biggest bull alongside my big Nontypical mule deer.
I'm guessing the waterbuck at 30-31", am I close? I love the bullseye on the butt of them criters. Tom
Tom, you are gonna hate me for this, and think I'm full of self-righteousness...but I never measured him!
Still haven't to this day.....
Learned a long time ago to enjoy the hunt, not the take, and most of my stuff is unmeasured...when somebody asks " How big was he???"
My stock answer is " He was big enough to shoot..."
Doesn't much matter past that point...
Ingwe
I have 6 mounts on my walls and one at the taxidermists from last fall and I am like you never measured a one of them. The only reason I guesstimated your waterbuck is that is what I did for clients for about 7 years. I have on occasion measured the inside/outside spread on my whitetails but that was all. I can guesstimate pretty close most of the time but on the hoof is always tricky. Like you if it's big enough to shoot it's big enough. Tom
I remember measuring a Mule deer once when I got him home ( a quick inside/outside spread thing) to see if he was bigger than one I already had on the wall ( had to go inside and measure him...) to see if I should take my latest to the taxidermist. I did.... forgive me if youve seen me post this before...
Ingwe
Nice mule deer and nice brow tines. Alot of mule deer have either no brow tines or very small, I'd be happy with that one.
My PH measured it at 58"; I didn't care.
Another "trophy" I never measured.
Wow, you should be proud of that ghost of the forest. That's one of the nicest kudos I've seen. Symetrical, ivory tips and length.
Dats a dandy!
Ive only ever seen a couple like that, shot none of them...!
Your PH measured this one too...but he sure didn't make 58"!
Ingwe
Very nice Ingwe! In regards to my kudu, you know JH doesn't get too excited but he was just a little when he measured to 58"
edited to add: I think the greater southern kudu is one of the most regal, graceful animals on four feet. All that and they are delicious on the table too.
I'm much like Ingwe, don't worry much about the measure. It's more about the adventure.... Dropped this guy with my 300 WSM @ 75 yards. Sounds like a nice easy shot but I had climbed the hills for 4 dyas before stumbling on this guy.
This guy was the best trophy. A very old Duiker. He was blind in the right eye. The infection in the eye had his day's numbered. 100 yards with a 22 Hornet.

Speaking of regal and good on the table, thought I'd better throw this boy into the mix..
And REJ; your old duiker being a good trophy reminded me of this guy...an really old Hartebeest, blind in one eye, 75% of sight gone in the other, horns all worn down...pretty cool old boy...
Ingwe
You could post a pic of that deer every day, and I still wouldnt get tired of looking at it!
Ingwe, beautiful sable and hartebeest. I once saw a sable mounted on a pedistal in a manner that it looked like a chess piece. The pedistal was a dark black and it looked magnificent. Any sable looks magnificent I guess, no matter how it is mounted. A black buck mounted the same way was also an excellent display. You sure have some great trophies. Tom
Thanks Tom...
KCB...I am sure not tired of looking at that Mule deer either...I have a real "thing" for them!
Ingwe
Thanks Tom...
I'm editing this on the fly so don't know how this is gonna go, but I did a "european" mount of the old Hartebeest...that one was special cause I got him hunting with the guy who was, at that time, the oldest licensed PH in Namibia, and we snuck up on him and shot him with an iron-sighted .303...Once we looked at his eyes we found out why we snuck up on him as easily as we did!
KCB...I am sure not tired of looking at that Mule deer either...I have a real "thing" for them!
Ingwe
Those are beauts fellas. Thanks for the kind words on my muley, I know how very lucky I was that day.
Nice pic's, great muley....I can gaze at that pic and dream....nothing else to do during the off-season....

I have a photo bucket account, but cannot remember how to post photos from it. Any help?

My biggest Gemsbok ha ha the only one. I think he was only 42" but a great body. Hit him poorly at 300 yds and chased him three days, finished at 200 yards, fifty yards and 20 yards all in a 3" group @ rt front shoulder. Ph on left tracker on right. They were great guys and really earned their money on this one.
My wife took these from 300 yards front and to right 500 yards from where I shot from(90degrees angle from line to target from me to her)Pretty fine photo sequence. I thought I was looking at the front shoulder, oops
My Kudu, of course largest, and only one. One shot at 120 yards offhand and it dropped in its tracks, literally folded up as it was turning away.

TomA ~ Thanks for a great idea. I think my Gemsbok will look great on a black pedestal.

Here is the closest to measurement trophy animal I shot, at 8.5 inches very good according to my PH.
Another of my Kudu, with my PH. He new the game, read it well, and set me up right where I had to be. We saw this and another bull earlier and made a big loop to get ahead of them, across a dry river bed. After only a half hour wait they came out. I had been looking at 250 yards further out when I spotted movement out of the corner of my eye. I moved off the sticks to swing to the movement, which he spotted and reacted to. I shot as he was turning and my wife captured the sequence on video.

Though I took this fine whitetail after hunting him hard I will not post it without saying, though I recovered it, it was a bad shot I should not have taken with traditional archery gear at -25 degrees. It was so cold I had lost strength on the stand and couldn't get to full draw on my recurve but being at ~15 yds. I decided to take the shot anyway; it deserved better. I estimated it's live weight at ~ 250 lbs.
I know exactly what you are talking about. I recall one morning I was so cold I could not draw my bow even though I tried 3 times. It's hell to be cold and old. Tom
My biggest Gemsbok ha ha the only one. I think he was only 42" but a great body.
" Only 42 "....nobody told you about Gemsbok ahead of time apparently...
42" is the Gemsbok of a lifetime...
They are my favorite plains game and I've shot a pile of them, here is my longest, though not the biggest...and this one was no 42"!!! ( didn't measure this either, but if I thought it hit 40"...I mighta found a tape for THAT...!
Ingwe
Ingwe, classic b&w of you and the oryx but,.. are you Nick Nolte in on the side
?
Ingwe
I like you don't hunt with a tape. I have been in love with Gemsbuck for years and one has been my screensaver as long as I can remember. The hunt for this one had incredible highs and lows and I was amazed at how they can disapear and hide so well.
I love the B&W photo. So much more texture and contast can be achieved.
Thanks for sharing your Gemsbuck with me. I had no idea it was big, although Kevin Robertson told me it was a really nice one. I agreed as I thought it was nice, regardless of size.
Randy
Ingwe, classic b&w of you and the oryx but,.. are you Nick Nolte in on the side
?
You aren't the first to ask that, thankfully as Nick and I have aged, we grow farther apart in looks...he with the wild-eyed drunk mug shot and lots of hair... me with chubbier cheeks ( and everything else...) and no hair!
BTW; Helluva whitetail you posted!
Ingwe
I always liked the fact Gemsbok can be kinda sneaky, like a whitetail...one of few African animals I have seen make a big loop and double back to get your wind and/or see what you are doing...
This one does not have the length, but he is the biggest, oldest bull I ever shot..The books say they may get up to 500 lbs. Well, here he is!!!
Ingwe
I posted pics of this one last year, but he's probably my best so far. 2008 Wyoming november bull.
My biggest mule deer from Kansas that measured 34 inches outside
My biggest antelope from Texas
The biggest mule deer I had the pleasure of guiding in Kansas that scored 205 with 4-5 inches broke off.
Nice stuff Jeremy. I'm going to hunt with you some day my friend, If KS ever lets me have a muley tag......
Ralphie,
What a nasty spot to have one die!! nice bull I guess you have to hunt them where they live.
Sounds good I love hunting with guys that are as obsessed with big mule deer as I am.
REALLY nice stuff Jeremy..
Ingwe
Not big but the "best" that night after chasing elk all day, breasted, with some olive oil, garlic, salt & pepper and pasta. The arrow went through the bird, the Zwickey head hitting a rock which turned it like a fishhook. Wish I would have saved it - you know, like we do bullets.
No elk; had a spike at a literal 5 paces in a four-point minimum area though; it was almost good enough.
goodnews, that's pretty neat there buddy.
Great, great pics and trophies, guys! Love this thread!!
JG - Your mule deer is magnificent - really a beauty in every way.
I'm not sure what my biggest and best is, honestly - so I guess I'll have to post a few (sorry for the repeat for those who've seen them...)
My biggest (and only) axis - and he really is a big one...A favorite because my boys stalked him with me...
I was along for the ride, though...grin.
One of my better whitetails - high, wide and handsome...but he's one of my best because my Dad and I were hunting together and he was with me when I killed him...
Of course, the boys were tickled when we got him home...grin.
Biggest and best to come off the old home place - and it was fun that my children got to watch me slip up on him and his doe...another buck I really like....
Another shot that shows him a little better...
Not the biggest, but the best drop tine buck I ever shot (OK - only one), but he's still a nice deer for Central Texas, and he was mature - plus he's special because kids were feeding cows with me the first time we saw him. After that, I hunted that drop tine pretty hard until he made a mistake with a yearling doe right at the end of the season...
Sorry, no field photos...
Another tall hill country deer - and more happy boys...
He's a pretty neat buck with a split G2, kickers at the base of both brow tines, and a crab claw....another mature deer, and a dandy for where he came from, so he gets mentioned, as well...
Enough for now, I reckon...
DJ
DJ, I remember some of those great pics. A huge congrats for making it a family thing also.
Thanks, JG - hunting with the family is more fun than I can say - even when it's harder or more limiting - the companionship of the children and the fun of seeing them have fun and succeed is over the top.
Last year, my 6YO son killed 3 including his first buck, my 12YO daughter killed 2 including her first buck, my 10 year old daughter killed one (her second), and my 8 year old daughter killed her first. Dinner is fun as they talk about whose deer we're eating tonight - they somehow keep track...grin.
DJ
Nice deer DJ,
I noticed the one with the droptine, I'm still hoping I get one but my brother on the other hand............
Actually he's got two droptine bucks but I dont have the pic of the other one for some reason.
Wow - now that's a droptine - makes my little one look like Ned in the first reader...grin.
They are hard to come by!
DJ
