Nice Lakers Pat!

I'll bet it gets to be one cold, windy SOB out there sometimes.

The most fear I've ever felt was 3 years ago finding my way back to the boat dock in the dark with a spotlight and a GPS, overloaded with a big bull elk and camping gear in 3 foot whitecaps. The longest 2 hours of my life! I'm damn lucky to be sitting here right now..

on a good day that lake is awesome and a blast to fish.....on a very windy day it could turn out very bad.....have made a run back to where we were parked more than once when a summer storm blew in without warning.....scary as hell....

Bad water can be absolutely terrifying.
I came very very close to death while salmon fishing in deep fast water.

Just thinking back to that moment sends shivers up my spine.

It ain't nothing to fool with, good to see the life vests on the kids.

scenar - everything you shoot or catch is a hog! Congrats on good times with your sons! You are making memories.

one summer our luck was so chitty if the weather man called for clear skies and no wind for the next 10 days, 3 hours after hitting the water a freak storm would roll in....running joke from some of our friends was if we were gonna go fishing they were just gonna stay home and stay dry no matter what the skies looked like....had alot of practice yanking the boat out of the water and onto the trailer at break neck speeds due to the lightning hitting around us that summer.....

BTW Pat, if yah wind up with to many of those lakers ive been wanting to try and smoke one.....

Very nice! Fishing and Hunting with the boys is what it's all about.
nice !
i miss fishing on ft.peck.
i have a 6lb 26" walleye on my wall from there. the biggest I'VE ever caught.

usta go in on the jordan side. went fishing on memorial day and there was only like 5 vehicles in the lot, it didn't seem to me it got too much traffic.

Cool Pat!

That elk trip sounds like a spooky deal.
Great pictures Pat but it looks just a might cold for a Southern boy to be out on the lake fishing. grin

Great job with those cold lakers! And alwasy good to see kids doing well.

I have had some hairy experiences on Ft. Peck myself. The worst was when fishing for big fall pike. Luckily even quite a few pike won't equal the weight of a big elk....

One of my best friend's dad died out there a couple winters ago.

4 wheeler hit a pressure ridge.

Rattler was actually the first to relay the tragic news.

Pat: Wow I had no idea Ft Peck had big lakers! Very cool!

Sam:What is a a "pressure ridge"?
Posted By: SamOlson Re: Hunting Fort Peck Lake - 11/16/10
Bob, it's when two sheets of ice shift around and create ridges as they butt up against each other. Sometimes there's a void under the ridge. You do not what to drive over one.

Pat, you actually eat them big ol' stinky things or is that 'yote chum?

(grin)

We used to catch a bunch of 'em on Lake Pend Oreille.
Baked a couple but my aunt would also can/smoke 'em up and they weren't bad that way.

Nice fishy's. As for big water and little boats...it's the scariest ride in Montana. I've lived through two very bad situations and I almost start to shake all over again just thinking about them.

Nice fish Scenar! What Ranger do you run? Looked like a 6 series Fisherman, sure are nice boats!

Great pictures Pat! A day on the water when big fish are put in the boat is on not easily forgotten. Congrats on some great family fun.

That sounds like it ranks up there with flying through a thunderstorm....in a Cessna.
