Anyone ever hunted it? I'm heading out there at the end of the week.

Any info would be great. We're going out pretty much blind and hoping for the best.

Yes, I hunted it the last 2 years. It, like the rest of Wyoming, is awesome. It has tons of public land and antelope. You'll dream of going back every day. Have fun!

i hope go go hunt that land some day sure is a amazing place im sure pictures dont do it justice
I grew up hunting 68 and 62. If you get there the day before then obviously you can go out and do some spotting and get a feel for the lay of the land.

For the sheer beauty of it, you might look at the area just east of Split Rock by the Oregon Trail along Sweetwater Creek off county road 322. There's a mix of public and private there, so check your BLM map.

Do you have leftover tags? WY was crazy this year a lot of areas with leftovers selling out in a few hours.
I tried to get some for 47, but I was a on a flight until about 10 am and they already sold out. My brothers didn't draw and nmleftovers for him either. I'm going for antelope in Colorado with a landowner permit.

How did your trip go?
Maby he got ate by a Rattlesnake!!!! I have seen a ton of them out there this year!!!!

Strange I never saw one rattlesnake this year and darn few bull snakes.
We had a great trip.

It was my brother and I for the last 5 days of bow and then we were joined by his three sons for the rifle.

We found a watertank miles from anything and both arrowed our bucks there, about an hour apart. His was huge, mine was average. The taxidermist in Rawlins estimated his buck at about 78 or so. No final word on score yet. He's getting a shoulder mount done.

His boys started rifle hunting Saturday morning and they all had their bucks down by noon.

Sorry, no pics as of yet. I forgot my camera and he hasn't emailed me any yet.

Great area, fun hunt. The boys got pics of one rattler that was lying on the road. Tons of sage grouse around too.

Highly recommend this unit. I think it took four or five points to draw. Can't remember which.
Very Cool. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Yep, told you so! smile

Glad you had fun. It's an awesome place.
It was alot prettier than I had imagined.

We camped at the south end of the unit on the BLM campground. It was at the base of the mountains. Aspens turned while we were there and we heard elk bugling all night. It was really magical and a great campground. We brought a pop-up trailer and the boys stayed in an Alaknak.

The Agate Flats(?)road had some great scenery as well.

BTW that water hole was up on the Agate flats road about 17 miles north of 287 as the crow flies. There is a landing strip real close to that area, though it never gets used.

We saw at least 2 bucks that were legitimate Booners, but there was no way to get close enough. One was just off the Oregon trail/Agate flates junction.

I love Wyoming. I'll be going back in 2014 to hunt elk.

BTW my nephew caught about 20 Brookies out of the tiny stream that runs through the campground. 6-9 inchers. It was really cool. He used salami for bait, lol.
The campground was called "Cottonwood". fwiw

Sounds like a great time was had by all. That is what it is all about.

I know exactly where you're talking about. I also hunted deer in area 96 so I've spent some time in the Green Mountains as well.

The experience is what makes a hunt and it sounds like you had a good one.

The only thing I didn't like about the area was the drive to get there and back.
