Pretty Good Pig! - 11/19/18
I'd posted a pix of this guy a couple weeks ago IIRC.....
Anywho,
Went to my lease last Monday evening. Got there late and the wind was blowing about 30 MPH.
It was 20 degree and the wind about the same Tuesday morning.
I did not figure that the critters would be moving so I went and set out several snares.
Only shot one small pig between Monday and Friday evening, the last time I sat out.
However, Friday morning my bud and I found this guy in the snare. Caught him around the snout.
Needless to say, he was not a happy camper when we walked up on him.
My bud had a 44 mag carbine and I had my Winchester 1300 Defender pump loaded with 8 rounds of 3" 000 buckshot.
About five seconds after we saw him emerge from the bushes and charge (I use a 10' leader on the snare) we both started wailing on the beast. I put three rounds of buckshot in his neck and head, and my bud put 4 rounds of 44 mag in him before he keeled over. I then had Kyle put two more rounds in chest between his front legs. I still waited about 5 minutes till he was expired before I walked up. Talk about a dog-killin SOB. This is one of the biggest hoglets I've taken in the hill country!
ya!
