Montana's Antelope draw is next week...the unit I apply for runs about 80% success for residents.

I saw a lot of Montana last week and sure was happy to see how lush and green much of the state was...but then we did get kicked out of our camping spot near Helena because of a fire....

Looks like he damaged his on-side rear quarter on something. Or, is that just a line in the hair? My 1st thought was someone grazed him w/bullet or arrow.

I took this a few days ago in so. central Idaho, unit 50. He had about 20 to 30 does with him. He wasn't waiting to pose for the camera so this is greatly enlarged.
Antelope tags are some of the hardest to draw in Idaho. Odds are usually 4 to 5%.

Pronghorn here don't really slick up until about July. May and June they're pretty rough.

They look their best in about October when they're beginning to put on winter hair.
