I applied for a deer license and was unsuccessful, and now the leftover list shows there are licenses available for this unit. How do they have leftovers when there were applications that were unsuccessful?
Probably had a date to pick up your tag by. In Idaho if you don't pick up you tag by a certain date it goes back to first come first served. Several years ago I didn't know this and lost my draw on an Antelope tag. I was in shock. Still have a bad taste in my mouth.
I saw that as well. Those are return/refunded licenses or the applicants credit card did not go through in the draw. If a tag takes 5 (?) or more points it is offered to the next in line. Others go on the leftover list as they occur. Happy Trails
Thanks for the clarification guys, makes sense now.
What's the chances of getting one in the leftovers?

Depends entirely on the number left for the type you apply for and when you apply. Scare one you may not get even if you apply at the starting bell. Others you may have days to get them.
